Whoever got your bus will NEVER regret it.

How did you manage 1650rpm? Do you know what your rear end gears were??

My bus is in storage and not licensed right now. The only thing that would make a difference is tire size or an error in my tach or speedo. I've put about 2000 miles on the bus and a was staring at all the guages. Mine is a 1989 BBAA with an 8.3 and 643.

I have 11-22.5 Mine will do pretty near 80 I think....havent tried anything about 70 though. I'm gunna call foul on your tach or speedo. Even with a different size tire I dont think you could get that low of an RPM. I get 9mpg, but I live in the mountains. 1800 is the peak torque curve for this engine. If I could get 1800rpm at 62mph [which is all I run], I would be well pleased.

Call foul. Nothing I can do to disprove it right now. The bus is staying in storage for the time being. When it comes out, we can address the mattr again.

Not trying to prove you wrong, just wanting to see why the differences. Do you know what size tires you have?

The only time I looked at my tires in tears was when I bought them. ;)

Re: 1994 RUST FREE blue bird All American RE
Looking back over this original thread, that was not a bad price he was asking for that bus. 10k hours is a lot of hours but do-able. There was a recon engine in it, so that nullified the engine hours.
I saw a few comparisons....stop, you cant compare any FE bus with a bus like this. Nor can you compare a 5.9, DT or 8.2 to this, apples and oranges. These things are the pinnacle when it comes to a well configured school bus.
Crazycal, you said your bus was an 8.3 but your thingy over ------------> says its a DT?

This is the bus with the DT466.
This is the 8.3.
And I found a picture of the dash from the trip back home. I was off.

Yup the bus was such a terrible price for those components that I only went as far as Oregon to pick it up. On a side note as I tear into things I am finding that yes the bus is also actually rust free, great climate for buying vehicles out of.

The lowered asking price was a fair price. If you got it for less, even better.
