Question 1995 Genesis Heartbreak (help!)

So an incredible deal just came up near me in Virginia — a baby blue/white 1995 AmTran Genesis with a DT466 engine — 26' long. 99K miles, state maintained, and EXCELLENT tires.

I talked to the seller and he requested that I not come on Tuesday (as I suggested), and asked instead that I come this upcoming Friday, saying that he'd hold it for me.

I got a message from him YESTERDAY saying that he already sold it, and now I'm all messed up. I was SO SO SO excited about starting on this conversion with what seemed to be the perfect bus for me and my family in just about every capacity.

So ... now I'm kinda pulling my hair out trying to find another similar Genesis but having no luck. Anyone have any leads on where I could find one or have any suggestions for me?

Totally heartbroken!

I've attached the pictures of the bus that almost was ...

Dick move on the sellers part, I'm sorry about that. There've been a few buses that I either didn't pull the trigger on or were sold before I could that I'm still sad about almost a year later!

But something else will come along, good luck with the search

I fell in love with my bus before buying it, and I'm still in love with it, but I would have greatly benefited (financially at least) from the seller doing to me what your seller did to you. In addition to the rust on your bus (which isn't catastrophic but also isn't nothing), it might well have had other problems that would have manifested themselves down the road.

I think the big problem with skoolie building is that you have to make your most significant decision (which bus to buy) at a time when you know the least about the whole deal. For this reason, I think losing out on a bus is more often going to be a good thing than a bad thing.

wowowow there's some skoolie wisdom there — thanks!!

On the rust, the seller said it was rust free on the outside and only had the surface rust on the inside shown in the picture. State maintained vehicle. Been trying to track down where it came from but reaching a lot of dead ends.

That really sucks! I had the same thing happen when I was first looking for a bus. I drove from LA to Bend Oregon to check out a '36 Chevy shorty, agreed to pay the asking price, was assured the bus would be there when the hauler showed up. Glad I checked before I dispatched the hauler--the A$$ hat sold it out from under me.

The good news: I bought my present bus sight unseen on ebay. When it arrived I found it to be in much better condition than the seller had said!

Here's hoping you have similar luck!

I hope that's what happens!

Oddly enough I've found that several of that same make/model/paint job have been sold in the region over the last couple years. In fact, one was auctioned in my city in April!

Trying to crawl my way to the source and see if there are any left!

So I did get a bus! A 2003 International 3000 30' FE flat nose. Seems like i'm suddenly having fuel flow issues, since it was running earlier today but cut off. Now it won't turn over.
