They are the creme de la creme...

They have much better engines, transmissions, and brakes than you will find on most other school buses.
Much better. They also will be SHOOTING up in value.

I already consider them the "vw split window" of school buses... Some guys get real emotional about classic machinery.

They go for about 3500-7500 for a decent one.

I see these becoming $20,000 buses in five years or so.

So it will be a bus with a diesel engine from 1987 or older.
easy! just make it a "furniture moving truck"
keep your usual furniture in it, and leave room to carry the furniture you're moving!
when inspection time comes around... run by mom's house and grab her stove, refrigerator, couch, microwave... make a trip around the block, and drop it back off.

He was above my budget, but may be exactly what you are looking for. Give these folks a try and see if they have what you're looking for.

He has more than just the '89 listed. The '89 is just an example.

Whaha lol, thats genius!
Funny how this turned out.

I just got an estimate on the shipping to, it will be around $4400,- to ship a 40foot bus from Galveston to Antwerp Belgium. (About 3 to 4 hour drive from Amsterdam)
Import tax will be based on the price I bought it for in the U.S. but thats something I can be 'creative' with to avoid high taxes.

This is awesome!

Just one bump in the road... Today I drove by a friend who owns a place where I can built the bus and store it but he just sold the property. (Bummer!)
But no problem, there is more people who can help me.

Expenses are getting a bit higher then I hoped it to be but that's okay.
It will be a good investment on the longrun.

Thanks for the help guy's! I really appriciate it!

Bryce.

Sure, you are welcome anytime!

All I need to do now is:
-Find a place to live in it. (Very bussy asking around)
-Find a place to work on it. (Have someone in mind that will probably love to help me)
-Wait for the government to get back to me with the specs. needed to be able to build it as a truck.
-Then sell my racing stuff to get the budget to get started.
-After this it will be time to come over to the U.S. to see some busses and hopefully buy one.

Thanks EastCoastCB! I sure appreciate your offer!

I just spoke to David, he is the sales manager at the company M1031 just shared a link from.
He has 2 Crowns I might be interested in, both 2 axle buses, Detroit 671 engines and 5 speed manual transmissions.
one is from 1986 and one from 1987, he's asking $8000,- each.
Only thing is... they are located in California.
Not much of a problem for me but I would sure appreciate some assistance when inspecting / buying.
maybe it will be better if I can find one in Florida?
I pay for expenses of course.

Thing is, I'm not that familiar with auctions and U.S. sellers/dealers.
Google isn't giving me the best search results either, so it's hard to find the right place to look for a bus.
If you stumble upon a good one, feel free to share!

something else... shall I start a new topic since this conversation is not relevant to the topic anymore?

Sorry, its a bummer, but virtually NO Crowns this far east. I've never even seen one in the flesh.

As to starting a new topic- well, that's up to you.
I'd say since your quest is to be so EPIC, you may as well.
There are some REAL Crown enthusiasts here.
IF you decide to make an offer on one of those for $8000, maybe use your location as a bargaining point.
Offer something less, the worst they can say is no.
Those sound like really sweet buses. Are the Detroits in them turbocharged? I'd imagine they are.
I really recommend a turbo.

Maybe Brant or Cowlitz will chime in, they both know a lot about buses and especially crowns.

I'll start a new topic as soon as I got time to do so.
And thanks for the advise, I'll try to get it a bit cheaper.

Do you have any idea about the 1974 Crown's?
One of those would be 40 years old and tax free.
Are they good? Are they affordable?

Thanks for the help so far, I feel really welcome in this community.

Bryce.

Used Crown Bus. For sale at BusWest Preowned.

This one is already sold but it sure looks awesome!
And it's from 1974 so it will be tax free.
No need to register it as a truck.

Yeah, one of the guys on another forum bought it and drove it to Ohio for a roof raise conversion. He got a SWEET deal.

Bryce, If you need help with inspecting those Crowns, I have a close friend, Chuck, from World of Tanks, in Marysville, California, about 30 minutes from this guy's lot. As a matter of fact we drove by the lot as we were going to Wasco, CA to get my Thomas. I can ask Chuck if he'd be willing to help. He's a good mechanic and an awesome friend.

Let me know what you're thinking. If I can be of further assistance please let me know.

Yeah he bought himself an awesome bus!

That sure sound's good to me M1031, thanks for offering!

I really need / want to sell my racing stuff now so I can get started, I also need to find myself a place to live in it.
Let me work this out first before contacting him.
I've send about a dozen emails to campings in my area, only got two of them replying.
Think I have to take a day off and drive by some campings and scout for some farms where I might have a chance the owners will let me stay.
It's hard to get time for that if I keep working 7 day's a week from 18.00 till 06.00.
Let me take some time to figure this all out and we'll keep in touch!
