1996 International 3800 Diesel For Sale >>SOLD<<

Hi, I've got a 1996 International 3800 59 passenger bus with a T444E Diesel and a 5 speed Spicer For Sale. Only 143,xxx miles, great shape. Asking $3500 OBO. I recently bought this bus to use as a powerplant donor for my Flxible Clipper, but am not having any luck finding a shifter that will work with the tranny in an rear engined setting. I really hate to get rid of it, but it would be easier for me to sell it and buy a bus that is already set up for a rear engine, than to start swapping parts.

The school district that I got the bus from retired it because they had to upgrade to a larger bus. The engine is rated at 210 hp, It is governed at 70 mph, and will run about 2400 rpms at 70 mph. Held a pretty steady 68 -70 mph on most hills, slowed to about 65 on one real bad one that slows my Powerstroke pick-up down too. The International dealer says that they can disable the governor (a computer program) and I'm guessing it should do an easy 75 - 80 mph ( runs up to about 2700 - 2800 rpm in most gears). I drove it over 400 miles with out any trouble, and am guessing that the mileage was close to 12 mpg (didn't fill it up when I got home, but I put about 33 gals in it when I left, and the fuel guage reads about the same when I arrived home). It has cruise, FM radio, power steering and 4 wheel power disc brakes. Body is in great shape, as is all of the glass. Clutch was replaced at about 100,000 miles. Maintanice guy said that he always changed the oil between 3500 - 5000 miles.

Not sure of the length, will check tomorrow. No rust, hydraulic disc brakes all around. I can email some pics, but don't have any posted to the net right now.

Well, I sold the International. Hated to let it go, because it was in great shape, but I decided that it wouldn't work for what I wanted. I am looking for a another reasonably priced bus, preferably a rear engined one, with a Cummins 8.3 ISC engine, and either an automatic tranny, or one that can be converted for use in a rear engined application. Drop me a note if you have something, or know of something that might work for me.
