1999 Bluebird TC RE 8.3 MD3060
We have decided to sell our bus. Due to some of the same health concerns that another member has with diesel fumes and poor lung function, it needs to be replaced with something in the gasoline flavor.
1999 Blue Bird TC RE
8.3L Cummins
Allison MD 3060 (No 6th gear yet)
40' long, wheel base 23'
256,000+ miles
Great tread on tires, all rear tires date inside of 10 years, steers 3 years
Cruise control, easily runs 70+ mph
100 gal fuel tank - almost full with 9-1-1 added
New brakes on rear, good lining thickness on the front
Inside height, bare floor to ceiling rib, 6'3"
Completely gutted to metal
Air ride driver seat
Air ride passengers seat, not mounted
Double pass thru under belly storage
Moderate rust, bad around wheel wells
Trailer hitch, no light wiring yet
All exterior marker lights LED
Safety interlock system is bypassed, all non-essential body wiring already removed
There are a number of pictures in my build thread; https://www.skoolie.net/forums/f11/9...1-a-30079.html
Comes with;
Black, grey tanks, not sure on size
75 gal. fresh water tank
2 large, 2 small RV windows
RV door, needs glass replaced
Several kitchen cabinets, long counter top, and sink
Small bathroom vanity and sink
NOS 6 gallon LP water heater
2 roof top A/C units
Enough 120V wiring to complete build
Currently there is a 6.5K Onan gas generator with 147 hours, mounted underneath, start/stop controls at the driver seat.
I'm asking $6500 for everything. $5500 and I keep the generator.
Bus is located in east central Nevada, about 200 miles north of Vegas.

Any internal photos? Didn't really see any except the beginning pictures of it barebones. Or is it still just barebones inside?
Thanks

The post said it was gutted to metal, so it sounds like it's ready for conversion. It's got a lot going for it and that price is quite fair.

Sorry about the lack of pics and clarity. I have a problem with posting pics on my government computer. I’m back to a real computer so here are some more pics. All the stuff I listed is materials I have collected for the build. The only thing mounted so far is the generator and passenger seat. These pics are from this morning, the way it sits right now. The 4 with rust is the worst of it. Also looking it over I realized I don’t have all the top marker lights mounted, but that wouldn’t take very long so it’s legal on the road.

I'm getting motivated to sell the bus before I retire. Dropping the price to $5000 with everything, $4000 minus the generator.

That's a nice bus. Rear-engine with a good balance of emissions, motor and trans. Not to mention all the work of stripping out the seats and inside sheet metal that's already done.
If that bus was near us, in Kansas, we'd be seriously looking at it, in person, right now, cash in hand. But alas at 1200 miles away, the logistics of traveling to see it and then getting it back here are just too much for us right now.
Somebody's gonna get a good deal.
Just out of curiosity, is it still titled as a school bus or were you able to get RV tags for it yet? Not sure how easy (or hard) it is to get that done in Nevada.

As somebody who's dealt with very bad rust around the wheel wells, the damage to this bus is minor. Given the desirability of the engine and transmission (and the rareness of buses overall right now), this is an excellent deal at $5K (even better at $4K).

Someone is definitely going to get a great deal.
It's still titled as a bus. I was going to use the Vermont titling when I got ready because Nevada is a pain like most the rest of the States.
Dumb thing is, I could get double or more if this was at an auction site with zero history on the thing. Oh well. I guess I'll never break even on the time I have into it. But I have learned a lot!

musigenesis, what do you do for rust like that? I’d be worried about structural integrity, and more as-yet-undiscovered rust.
The price is certainly tempting!

Wow! For all the pissing and moaning on this site from so many about lack of buses, price too high and can't find that elusive 8.3 with a 3060 and yet five weeks later this is still for sale. Sure makes you wonder about all the "I'm ready to buy but I just can't find that bus" stories.
Good luck with the sale Jack.
Take care
Oscar.

That's funny! I was thinking the same thing. Its dumb to see so many complain about the high price they had to pay for an auction bus, then this sits here for so long. That's ok. 3 years from now someone will message me and ask if it's still for sale!
I actually have a buyer for it right now, a young couple from SoCal. If all goes well, they will be enjoying their new old bus by the end of the week!

It killed me to have to pass on this, as well as another unicorn I would have been months, maybe years ahead on the prep for. Alas, diesel is the devil to my lungs. Jack, good luck with the sale, I hope it was someone I passed it along to.

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee: "at's nawt compromised structural integrity ... this is compromised structural integrity!" The rust around JackE's wheel wells is certainly nasty-looking, but it's mostly damage to the flat sheet metal part of the floor and not to the cross-members underneath. The fix would be to cut away all the rusted-through metal and "square up" all the holes, treat the remaining surface rust with Ospho or other rust converter, then weld sheet metal patches over the holes.
If you're a welder and have a welding machine, JackE's floor damage would take a day or two to fix. If you're not a welder, this floor is a great thing to practice on, and a reasonable welding machine will cost you less than what hiring a pro to fix the floor would cost you (my machine was $350 + $150 for the Ar/CO2 bottle).
