1999 International AmTran RE
Hi!
My wife and I have been hard at working with our skoolie conversion but family circumstances require us to sell at this point. We have been working on a 1999 International AmTran, rear engine, 3800 series. Diesel engine with 176k miles. We've put about $9k into it and are asking $5500 OBO. We have an RV solar panel kit ready to be installed. New driver's seat. Custom welding work done to replace the rusted out steps, patch around some of the wheel wells and create new window frames and cover the other areas. Starts right up and drives great. Clean title. Needs a little work to be road ready, but can easily be fixed up and driven to where ever you want to take it.
It's almost been completely gutted and is ready for you to start building. Located in the Cincinnati, OH area. Can be picked up locally or I can help arrange shipping. Let me know what questions you have or if you're interested!

Curiously enough, my local district here in Alabama also has the black stripe down our buses. I've always found it convenient for finding the buses in a parking lot at a marching competition.

Didn't ever notice that. The KY lettering is also a bit distinct. Once you've owned one the KY ones are easy to spot.

It is from Kentucky, the engine is an International DT466/Maxxforce DT. We have a new driver's chair, the rv solar panel kit from Renogy I previously mentioend, a DryFlush Toilet with mounting brackets and 3 extra refills I can include.

I have the same year and I've been trying to find out what transmission/engine combos were used, as eventually I want to swap out the 545. Where did you find this?

That bus shouldn't be a Maxxforce unless it's some sort of bizarre swap project. Just an International DT466. Very big difference between the 2 motors!
I forget when International stopped using the Amtran name on their buses but it was long before the Maxxforce came onto the scene.

Is no maxxforce thankfully. Just a DT466E. Good engine.

Not sure if they know, I was the first post and I asked about engine and transmission. The engine has been guessed at but I'm still not sure what it actually is. Several questions about the transmission model and none of them got answered so it's likely a bad transmission, no reason to hide what it is if it's a 643 or newer 2000/3000.

Maybe if we can divine the engine we can deduce the transmission. I seem to have it in my mind that the 643 wasn't paired with the DT530 like perhaps it wasn't rated for the engine output but I could also be misinformed in that regard so don't want to further advance misinformation.
