2001 Thomas Built Freightliner FS65 near Los Angeles

2001 Freightliner FS65, Built by Thomas, 10-window / 32' long skoolie, school bus conversion, tiny home on wheels, titled as motorhome and for sale in the Greater Los Angeles area. Currently stored in an RV yard in Agua Dulce, near Palmdale, CA. Conversion is complete and live-in ready (both current and previous owner have lived in it), although there is potential for recreating it however you like. Pictures show various stages of the build.

Diesel, CAT engine, Allison automatic transmission, and hydraulic brakes (no air-brakes!) Approx. 125,000 miles. The auxiliary systems are powered by solar and propane. Four solar panels, 400w, installed on rear roof, with a 3000w inverter and 3agm battery bank, with water pump, low-draw LED lighting, and an electric dorm-sized refrigerator. Plug in outlets throughout the bus with GFCI’s and USB plug-ins. There is a 100lb propane tank installed on back exterior, for space heater and Marey instant hot water heater; also, there are capped-off propane hookups for a RV stove (not included). Systems include a 100g freshwater tank, 49g graywater tank and 49g blackwater tank. Bathroom includes a flushing RV toilet and shower. Galley includes kitchen sink, refrigerator, and space for propane stove.

Most of the conversion work was performed by previous owner. Exterior painted flat matte olive green, roof is white. FB required an interior color, so I put “Tan”, but the interior is mostly tongue and groove siding; the walls are clear cedar and the ceiling is tight knot pine. The walls and roof are insulated with R7.5 foam panels. Queen-sized bed with good mattress installed over compartment containing freshwater tank, battery bank, and an automatic fire suppression device.

Current owner installed door between sleeping area and storage area (the 'Garage') at rear of bus; garage also has a shelving unit. Upgraded electrical (some factory-installed sensors had worn-out, which affected gauges on dashboard); also conducted repairs for diesel use in cold weather. The couch shown in pictures was replaced by a folding table with drawers (Ikea). Also installed more lighting, including in bathroom. Although solar and propane seems to be adequate for regular use, there is a generator for back-up.

Sale includes current furnishings, wall-mounted television, a propane camp stove (for outdoor use only), shore-water and shore-power hook-ups, a gasoline-powered, 3000w generator (not used by current owner) installed on ext. back of bus, and misc. hardware for upgrades that I didn't have time to do (such as installing the new curtain rods), automotive fluids, and the tank drainage hookup (stored underneath bus in rear).

$40,000 or best offer. It is a trek to get out to Agua Dulce from where I live, so only want to show to those truly interested. Let's talk by phone first, and I will be happy to answer all of your questions, send you pictures, and meet you out there to drive the bus, if this is your dream life. Although I had planned for a nomadic period of my own life, I am now selling it because I accepted an opportunity that tied me to the LA area.
