2003 Bluebird HVAC

So, I’m tearing down this 2003 Bluebird L4RE Ultra LF transit bus and will be removing the main HVAC system. I’ll be selling all of it and going with a ceiling cassette mini split.

Selling the roof system and whatever is attached to it or the motor so it’ll be the complete system.

5.9 Cummins

No idea what it’s worth but if anyone wants it, let’s talk about what it’s worth to you.

I’m in Tucson and can’t ship or deliver.

Nice system.. itll keep you a lot cooler than a little cassette will going down the road... esp in arizona.. those rooftop syste,s are top notch for road A/C
clean that bad boy up and run it..

they have about zero value so if making it a $$ is the goal good luck.. but the value in their ability to cool as road A/C is excellent

Maybe I’ll take another look at it then. It does work well just trying to simplify and not have 2 large HVAC systems. I’ll see how well the mini split works, it has 9 and 12 k cassettes.

Thanks for the input!

The one item that can be worth money are the engine AC compressor brackets. They can be removable depending on type and layout.

Cadillackid, just found your post from a few years ago about not removing your AC. Really good stuff, I think I’ll end up keeping it especially since it’s not really in the way. Thanks!

how are you planning to mount the cassettes? I was thunking those would be too deep for a bus ceiling mount. at least when I thuink of ceiling cassette im thinking of the recessed in-ceiling square cassette vs the wall unit.

most of them are at least 7 or 8 inches tall. (depth into ceiling)

if you end up keeping the engine A/C, give it a good cleaning.. I love those rooftop systems but they do get dirty from tree debris and such..

I’m going to cut an opening in the roof then fabricate a protective cap. They will be about the same height above as the existing ac unit. They’ll be mostly flush with the ceiling inside.

The emergency exit on the roof is pretty much the perfect sized opening so I’ll only have to actually cut one opening.

The roof unit is filthy but I’ll be keeping it so it’ll get a good cleaning. The whole bus is packed with fine AZ sand, luckily I can just hose out the inside.
