40’ tandem crown

Ok the yellow tandem is ready to drive to its new owner.
It’s not perfect, there are some rust areas in fron cap if you zoom in. On driver’s side a scratch and dent on the compartment door and rub rail. A little chipping from the old school lettering stickers came off.
1983 40’
855 Cummins big cam with jakes

5speed
10 spare speed road ranger could be thrown in the deal
Thanks 10k is the asking price and is located in SoCal

Do you have any photos of the inside and undercarriage? Does it run? When was the last state inspection done, did it pass? I’m very interested. Thanks

I love these but I don't have the heart to convert one into an RV. If I was in the market for a restoration project though this would be perfect!

Hello, yes it runs great. We just had it delivered a few weeks ago ( they drove it 100 miles to Us ) and originally was buying It for just the engine. However I couldn’t bring myself to destroying such a nice crown. I don’t have any documentation on inspections. I got a Facebook post from someone that used to drive it back in the day. That’s where I got the old photo of it.
I’ll send you my cell number if you want to call me.
Thanks

Thanks. I love it but logistically I don’t think I’d be able to get it back to ny from SoCal.

Very Nice. For those who keep wishing and hoping they could ever get a Crown this one is the one to get. It's a keeper. Nice job. You could never wear it out and it'll outlive you. And it'll always get you home.

I know the feeling of getting one for the engine and parts. I'm going to have to do something similar probably to get Jakes for mine when the time comes. The pancake Jakes are different and much harder to find. I may be able to modify a regular set but I'll deal with it when I have the funds to do it right.

I could be talked into delivering it if anyone needed help but they'd have to pay and also get me back home. I could also offer training in how to drive and the proper care and feeding of said Crown. Safe to figure about 6-7 mpg for that engine and if still school bus gearing you're going to barely do 60mph, maybe a little more on the road.

Has anyone ever raised the roof on a Crown? Do they even need one?

I think Crowns are beautiful but I know nothing about them. I never even knew they existed until I bought a school bus, which is probably for the best since I love art deco and might have gone after one of these.

Wouldn't that be akin to painting an airstream though?

Shudder

That's my feeling as well. I wouldn't have the heart to start cutting on a Crown.
