Question Anyone tried calling local school districts for our of commissioned buses?

Hello, I purchased a bus recently and it blew a head gasket. I'd like to fix it myself, but the problem is that it's six hours away and I haven't come up with a good way of towing it. Does anyone have any ideas on towing it that far on a low budget? If not then it leads me to the title which is calling local schools to see if they have any buses that they need gone.I'm curious to see if anyone has done this or had any luck with it.

I believe that public agencies are required to offer buses for sale at an auction. Private direct sales arw not allowed

True in most cases, but you as an individual can attend and participate in those auctions and pay what re-sellers get them for...wholesale.
