Blue Bird Parts to good home...

So here's the deal. Parts are free -- shipping is on you, but I'll help arrange as practical.

A fellow Skoolie picked up a huge load of free parts from a very generous "retired-Skoolie" and dropped some of the load off with me for future distro...

Some good sheet metal parts and a whole lota rub-rail...

If somebody that speaks BlueBird can better ID the part numbers and add that to this thread that'd be great!

I would love to get the whole piece from you. Honestly I could get away with just replacing the other two feet on each side.

I know shipping would be a bear but I can not find this anywhere locally.

Blue birds have an inside end cap?!

Our Thomas' do not, correct? There's a compartment to hide/ access wiring and such...

Bluebird uses double layered steel in the end caps. I learned that the hard way when I tried to pound back the huge dents I have on my back cap.

Fascinating -- I also noticed how much heavier duty the bluebird emergency doors were compared to my thomas -- thicker, maybe twice as thick even...

Can you confirm the p/n 1613694 is indeed the outside endcap?
Or from the pix at the beginning of this thread?

Sorry, I don't really have a way of verifying part numbers. One thing I would check is which ceiling height that cap is intended for. Bluebird end caps vary based on the ceiling height of the bus.

Yes, we have and inside skin in the Freightliner FS-65. I am thinking that part is the inside skin piece. The bus it came out of was a BlueBird CE200 and the roof was raised. I believe this piece and the window skinn were removed in the raise process.

I have mine down to the bare metal on the inside, and the lights removed. It doesn't look like it's double thick, even the dent lines on the inside match those from the outside. I haven't tried to pound on it t all, I think I'm going to cut a full piece to cover the whole indentation up so it's completely flat from top clear down to the bumper.

The two bluebird pieces have NO holes or marks from any installation or removal process -- I'm pretty sure they are NOS parts...

Meanwhile in our fs65's there's the outside sheet metal, and the ribs (or hat channel) and the inner panels. Do you mean to say there's a 3rd layer in the end cap? That would make the endcap very structural which would be cool...

Having actually removed both my front and rear inner caps (Blue Bird), which are mostly pretty flat, this cap looks very much like the outer piece. Front or rear, I'm not sure which.

Agreed. I removed both of my inner caps as well (BlueBird), and neither piece had the contours shown in the pic above.

I was thinking that the "end cap" piece was for the inside. I do not have a BlueBird to compare it to, so I'd tend to believe those that have BlueBirds as to the identity of the part.


@banman ... right, our FS-65's have the outer skin, the hat channels, then the inner skin. When I raised my back door, I removed the inner skin pieces and they looked a lot like the piece in question. That is why I suggested that it might be an internal piece. The previous owner did not say he had removed it, just that he wanted to be rid of it. Sorry if I added confusion.


I have been sorting through the stuff again today and found a couple more BlueBird parts and this thread seems like the best place to post them up for grabs.
