Colorado Bus Auction
There is a bus auction closing on Monday, just south of Denver. They have quite a few decent looking buses.
I found a diesel mechanic nearby who is willing to go look at them. He said a couple other people have contacted him, but no one else has confirmed. He is planning to go out tomorrow (Friday) and might drop the fee a little if he is doing multiple inspections together.

Some niiiice looking buses there in Colorado, and many of them seem to have air brakes, air ride, and the Klam driveline retarder....which I find to be very useful on ours. It's good to have someone to check out the bus before you bid. We did the same and found it reassuring and helped to know which ones to bid on and which to take a pass on.

Some of those FS65 Freightliners aren't showing any interest yet...
Any of the 3126 with MD3060 combo's will be a great bus for somebody.

Lol, tell me about it. My 2018 taxes apparently got lost and both 2018 and 2019 were on paper. So the IRS owes me about $7k between 2 years refunds and the stimulus payment. But paper returns are delayed, so no word on when that will show up!!
If they had actually paid us my wife might let me buy a bus!!

That's my biggest struggle at the moment. We don't want to fly anywhere, so it'd be one way car rental and try driving a bus home, but it just seems... less than ideal given the current circumstances.
Not that we won't be driving around once the bus is done... but once we have a bus we'll likely be working on it for a year or two, which gives ol' 'rona some time to settle down.
All that being said... I'm drooling every day over those dt466 + mt643 combos. They have 9 of them that weren't pulled for body issues or inaccurate odometer. I'm really interested to see how much they sell for.

Seems like the Klams are more desirable than the Allison integral transmission retarders. I looked up the core costs for a MD3066R (basically MD 3060 with the optional retarder). Whooooo boy that was expensive !!
Good thing 3060s don't fail often.

I was down checking out the buses the other day at this auction. The album below has photos of 2 of the flat nose/rear engine buses, #1082 & 1158, if anyone is interested. One had flaking rust on the frame and both had rotting supports under the lower storage compartments.

Only a couple hours left, and there are still 10 pre-2004 full size buses under $1000 that claim to run and drive!! Someone buy one and post about it so I can live vicariously through you!!
My wife (probably smartly) wants to wait until we get used to homeschooling before we take on a big project. I hate it when she's right. She's on a roll too. We narrowly turned down a seemingly amazing 2 year transfer to Bermuda with most expenses paid... A couple months before the 'Rona hit...

I whimped out. After a bunch of talks with the wife we settled on holding out for the mythical 27-29 foot 8 window bus rather than a full size or a shorty.

Lol, I get it. I wasn't bidding but the 6 window shorties I was drooling over went for waaayyy more than I had thought they would. $3-6k was out of my budget anyway.
