Could be IRS seizures too. It appears to me that most the stuff on Govdeals goes for more than it would on craigslist.

Most of the non-bus vehicles I've looked at on there, other than retired police cruisers, seem to have been drug seizures based on the agency listing them.

Sometimes the seller will state it is a seized or forfeited vehicle.
If not you can get a good idea by the agency selling.

That Willys Wagon is pretty nice. But damn, that's crazy to pay that much for one that isn't completely original.
I can't remember if I've posted about this on here before or not, but here's mine. It has a Mercedes diesel in it, and I paid less than 3 grand for it.

She's a beauty!
And yes that"s exactly my point; people drive those prices way up.
I am into dump trucks and see trucks on gov deals going for $5k that often sell on Craigslist for $2500 to 3500.

Thank you!
Yep, there's something about auctions that goad people into engaging in a dong measuring contest, and things often sell for a lot more than they're actually worth.

Every time I see auctions for vehicles like this on Govdeals it seems like the bidding goes to stupid levels.
It's even worse when you factor in the auction fee which can range from 5% to 20%.
I saw an original early 1970s Ford Bronco for sale by a park agency in California. Listed as non-running, missing a lot of body parts, etc. It was more of a parts vehicle. Bidding went over $20K

While not worth twenty grand, that bronco wasn't a parts vehicle. The yellow one?

Yeah, I often wonder how many people can't be bothered to read all of the auction terms before bidding and end up surprised when they see their total sale price.

I believe it was yellow, yes. The ad stated that the agency had bought the Bronco when it was new. Complete maintenance records etc

Not too many one owner classics still on the road. I'd take that bronco over my pos subaru. The subaru cost 8 grand more, but I'll bet that bronco goes on much longer. And I know it looks much cooler.

i used to have a 1955 willys until i got divorced. ran hard and rough but looked cool. it had 4 or 5 stick shifts coming from the floor. there was a gear selector, a hi/n/l lever, a lever to engage the front wheels, and a lever to engage an added on overdrive. after a while it makes sense.

Come to think of it, I MAY have actually put in a silly low bid early on when that Bronco was listed.
I never really LOVED the old bronco's, don't get me wrong they're fine... But te me they were always a knock off and second runner to the Scout.

The problem with first gen Broncos is now everybody wants them and prices are in a massive bubble.
I don't care how cool they are, paying over 10 grand for a 40 yr old truck is just silly.

I've been looking for one of those auxiliary OD units at car shows for decades. Literally, decades. I'd love to put one in a flatfender I have, but refuse to pay the $1,000 that people want for them online.
There's actually one more option for an additional stick on the floorboard. You could get a PTO for the old Jeeps to drive a mechanical winch if you wanted to.

All the old metal SUVs are bringing top dollar now.. good luck trying to find a scout or even a nice K5 blazer that isn't crazy priced..
They are now in the realm of someone classic car cruise in vehicle and no longer work trucks..
Just like people pay big bucks for 40 and 50 year old station wagons now..
Heck even full body trucks and cars from the 80s are being considered classics and bringing classics kind of money on sale..
Kind of like what is happening with school busses since they got popular to be tiny homes and exported ..
schools used to set them alongside the road for a few hundred bucks because no one would buy them at auction.
Fully mechanical busses are bringing top dollar as people realize they have no clue how to master the ECM based busses..

Two additional sticks if you have a dual output (front or back pto output)
