Driver/Captains Seat

Looking for a used or inexpensive driver seat for my 1970 ChevyC-40/Thomas Bus. The original is worn out and only has a low back, need something more modern with more support Etc. thanks

Do you have air brakes? If so, you might check into heavy truck salvage yards, some of those wrecks will have some nice air ride seats, you can also buy brand new air-ride seats through aftermarket. Should be pretty easy to plumb into the air brake system supply.

Check out your local LKQ salvage yard......I got a like-new condition captains chair for $35. You'll probably have to drill new holes in your floor to bolt it in, but it's no big deal.

if you're skilled with fabricating, or know someone who is, it wouldn't be too hard to set up an engine driven compressor for such an addition. Otherwise, I second the salvage yard idea, but expect to have to drill new holes and plug the old ones. You might be able to get some good seats from a newer truck similar to what your bus is built on. (ex. Chevy/GMC C60/C70 is now called Kodiak/Topkick) So try truck salvage yards too. A seat from a similar truck may even bolt in without drilling new holes, or possibly you could reuse the original driver seat mounting frame, the seat and mounting frame usually bolt together as separate units.
