FOR SALE: 2001 Thomas SAF-T-Liner MVP EF $15k obo
Located in Denver, CO. For sale is a 2001 Thomas Bus with ~174k miles on it. Selling it due to some life circumstances taking priority and I just don't have time or energy to focus on continuing the buildout. Purchased the bus last September and started the renovation project. Seats were removed and rust was treated before sealing the floor with rustoleom. We also laid foam board insulation (RMax polyiso) and plywood subfloors. Lastly, the old school bus windows were removed and prepped for steel skins. We hired the fine folks at ChromeYellow to skin over the old window holes (pretty much the entire length of the bus) and emergency exits on the roof, and had them install a heavy duty door to replace the old bus door. Lastly, they ordered 8 RV windows that will come with the bus. That is where progress stops and life changes come into play. As such, we're looking to sell our skoolie to a good owner that will continue the buildout and put her to great use. There does seem to be a boost leak or perhaps an air leak as the last time I drove it she was quite underpowered. So I'm happy to organize a mechanic and drop the price of the bus by the cost of the mechanic and repairs (if any), otherwise, if you are handy with diesel engines you can likely figure this out yourself. We did have a mobile diesel mechanic look at it before we purchased and he said the engine (Cummins 24V B series) and transmission (Allison) are his favorite combo and are a million mile combination if you keep up with the maintenance. In addition to the pictures of the bus itself, I uploaded a picture of his writeup with the few things he noted to look out for. Ultimately just hoping to break even on this (rough itemization below, not inclusive of hours spent working on it):
- Purchase price: $6,500
- RV windows: $2,759
- Metal skins and new door: $5,841
