That is the same gearing/transmission my bus has. It does alright on the highway, I keep around 60 MPH and it doesn't kill the fuel mileage or rev out.

That is similar to my shifter, mine just isn't twisted but it has the OD logo being that is an Allison 2000, overdrive 5th gear.

they are twistable.. that model shifter can have its handle rotated
