Pretty sure csbs2015 is a reseller as they have had a $3500 bid on all of the transit busses for days. The only ones they don't have high bid on are over that amount. Emparador is another reseller with bids in. I look to see a bidding war right at the end. I will probably throw a bid in on one of the DT360 busses towards the end.

I imagine every school district in the US is going to be dumping buses come May-Aug depending on their fiscal year and budgets. I just don't do a very good job of waiting. Patience is a virtue ... found in others.

Yeah, I noticed that days ago when it was first listed. Emparador has one bid in at $3550. The lowest mileage bus is held by premier01 also at $3550. I might go in one last time at the end for bus #401, 403, or 417.

Yeah I want a DT360 so going for C102, C103, or C106. I'll probably get outbid because I really don't care about the bus itself, I just want the drivetrain.

Find a wrecked one? I don't know if I have it bookmarked at work or not but I came across a site that was all salvage buses. There weren't many listed and I'm looking for a whole bus so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it but I'll see if I can't find it again tomorrow for you.

I have hydraulic disk brakes on one bus and air drum brakes on the other... ..

there are definitely high points to both..

the disk brake bus has ABS, so in a panic stop situation has a nice balance of stopping power front to rear .. the air brakes bus Loves to lock the rears with no weight in the back.

air brakes on heavy vehicles tend to give you more stopping power.. and without the hastles that wet brakes have like moisture in the fluid, sticking calipers, and the drums have more mass than a disk does,,,

disk brakes are similar to a car brake system so servicing them is pretty much like servicing car brakes other than they are much bigger of course...

air brakes have very heavy drums, and the spring loaded rear air cylinders can be dangerous if not handled correctly... something that tends to require a commercial truck shop to work on and inspect the slack adjusters,,

you dont have to bleed air brakes if you get air in the lines like you would hydraulics..

I've always done my own brakes on every car I've owned. Nothing like drums on a car. Crap the screwdriver slipped. Now where the hell did that spring land?!!? Safe to assume that same spring on a bus can't be moved by hand? You can bust a knuckle, pinch a finger pretty good, but unless you try stopping the flying spring with an eyeball there's no real danger in car drums. I've changed struts on cars and have a spring compressor so I'm not too shy about potential energy becoming kinetic.

Disks are sooooo much easier to change. So, there's disk and hydraulic only; no hydraulic~drum or air~disk?

ive not seen air-disk on a school bus... they are just starting to come into vogue in class-8 trucks... the most common is air-over hydraulic when it comes to "air disk"..

im not saying you cant work on air brakes as long as you have the gear needed to move the heavy drums around and such..

the spring im talking of is in the air cylinder itself.. of course the average that we drive our busses.. if you had to touch your brakes at all other than normal maintenance.. you probably would be good for many years..

Buyer's remorse already; am I better of with #401 with it's 4.63 gears and dead AC or #403 with 4.78 and working AC?

Either way, thx. Just over 7 hrs left.

Spoke too soon. Just got out bid. Let's try #403 now.

***Edit***
#401 is outbid, #403 outbid, #417 outbid, #417 high bid. These all end today. If they fall thru I'll bid on the MD bus.

Stick it to them! 4.63 will get you about 2mph better but working A/C would be great!

Hard to go against resellers who have deep pockets and will sell for double or triple.

Edit looks like csbs2015 is back and determined to buy them all.
