Free 12R22.5 tires/wheels

Hey all, this is a long shot, but if anybody is in Western Montana and needs tires and/or 22.5 Budd wheels let me know!

I just switched from 12R22.5 to 11R24.5. I tried selling the old ones for cheap on Craigslist, but no luck so far.

The bad first - All tires are 9 years or slightly older. One of the two steer tires is ~13 years old and has fairly low tread. I will only give this one away if someone needs the steel wheel - the tire is no good in my opinion. 2 of the 6 steel wheels are in poor condition (this is just my persnickety but uninformed opinion).

The good - all four drive tires and one of the steers are visibly in excellent shape. The drive tires are Michelin XDN2, and the one good steer is a Bridgestone R250. Tread depth is very good, sidewalls have zero cracking or blemishes. Four of the stud pilot steel wheels appear to be in good condition.

Personally, I didn't want to use these tires because of their age. But I won't judge you if you're in the "if they look good they are good" camp

I'm surprised you haven't had luck with these.

Where I'm from, farmers are always looking for used semi tires to throw on trailers and equipment, so long as they look fine and aren't bald. The type of equipment that gets used rarely, and it's not economical to throw new tires on it every time they age out.

Yeah, that's what I thought too! If no bus people want them, then the price on Craigslist will quickly go down to zero. Surely then somebody with old field equipment will come pick them up.

My 3500 sq ft plot in the city can fit a house, a 40' bus, and a tiny yard, but there's not much space for anything else. Need them gone soon!

Man...I just pulled up map directions from Flagstaff to Missoula (as a close enough to check option). If you weren't 1000 miles each way, I'd snag those from you and trade you some dollars too. For someone who needs 12s and understands the conditions (which you describe very openly) those would be great. Thanks for the offer, on behalf of someone here on Skoolie.net!

I thought Stevie might have that size, but having driven non-stop to Flagstaff a few times I know it's definitely not worth it for some used tires! Though if you were taking an FBomb "marketing" trip up this way anyway...

Wish we were closer. I'd love to make planters out of your old bus wheels. City code says we can't have uncultivated weeds overtaking our front yard, but it doesn't say anything about purposefully planting 'native vegetation'.

Planters is a good idea. I've also seen some pretty cool firepit ideas for big steel wheels.

Planters wouldn't be a bad idea for one, so long as they're not bothered by the rusty steel.

My firepit is an old dayton 24.5 rim. Was too rusty to be safely used on road, so I cut the tire off and have it half buried in the ground surrounded by 12 inches of lava rock. I know some a few guys have used rims(30" plus) off tractors too.

if needing a contained fire pit i think an old washer drum is the best.
i have also torched barrels in half and cut shapes into the sides like a harry potter symbol barrel.
know how to use a torch and a welder properly can go along way.
but the washing machine drum for a small was the best favorite of many of a boy scout over the years.
allows airflow and puts out heat.
boys loved sticking there wet socks and even dry socked feet on it when cold.
shapes in the barrel were to big but a washing machine drum is just right for all.

As far as tires do you have a tractor supply or farm store. They usually have a post it board walking in.

A local rancher found my marketplace ad and is supposedly coming on Sunday to pick them up. If it works out, that's the best scenario in my mind - these will find a new home on a farm up north. A place where they can live out their lives in peace, frolicking through the fields and never having to endure the heat and stress of 75 mph freeways again
