Free Hitch Box on Swingaway Hitch

This is cross-posted to Skoolie Planet on Facebook.

I am towing a car now and could not come up with a good way to keep my hitch box. So I am offering it for free to Skoolie folk who might benefit from some extra outside storage. It is located in northern Arizona near Flagstaff at a fellow Skoolie owner’s home. If you could use this and can drive to get it, I’ll put you in touch with them.

I would add that this box and the swing-away mount is at my place. I'm holding it for these nice folks, until they find a taker. So yes, this is a legitimate offer they made. Did I mention they were nice folks?

Awww, thanks Ross! You are very kind. And I love the job you did on my door. If anyone needs metal work on their bus, Ross is your guy.

Also, please somebody come get this box out of his yard. I promise it’s a sweet deal. We used it to store automotive fluids and parts (wheel chocks, power cord, bottle jack, etc) but it’s clean inside and would be a great addition for anyone who needs a little extra storage. The Swingaway hitch mount allows it to move out of the way for full access to the back door of your rig.

Did I mention it’s free? This setup cost about $500 new one year ago.

We no longer have a hitch on the white bus actually. We had paid for one to be installed and it hung so low that it scraped the ground at the slightest angle. Our mechanic said it had to be on a c channel because the frame extension wasn’t secure enough to bolt to. This box was on our other bus which does have a hitch.

The roof rack on the white bus is a ladder rack but it was not secure enough just bolting to the drip rail and had to be riveted to the roof. I believe it’s the VanTech brand.

thank you for all that info!

i am thinking about cutting a hole in the bumper so my hitch is higher and also want to talk to some shops etc on beefing up the back on mine before the install

how much longer was your chassis than stock? think mine is maybe 2.5 feet

will contact Ross
thank you!
