Good Deal?

Hey guys, I am brand new to the community, and would like your advice...

I'm looking at buying a 1990 International 3800, Thomas body, DT360 engine (dropped in in 2002), brand new Allison auto tranny, 66 passenger, rust free, air ride, air brakes, heated mirrors, brand new right front tire (the rest are at 50%). 217,000 miles on chassis, less than 1000 on the tranny, unknown on engine, but considered btwn. 50-75,000. He wants $2350 for her...is this a good deal? It's a little high considering the miles on the chassis...but with a new transmission and relatively low-usage engine I'm not sure if that is enough to warrant the higher price.

I would greatly appreciate any and all advice anyone could give me on this.

Thanks!

Re: Good Deal?

Sounds like a good deal to me. I'd love to have air ride in my bus, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Most bus's ride very bumpy especially unloaded. I wouldn't worry too much about the high miles, bus's are well maintained by school districts, and diesel engines run "forever"

disclaimer: forever may not actually be forever.

I'd buy it. No rust is like a new one to me. Mine has way to much.

Re: Good Deal?

Air ride is awsome!

At 50% tred, you'll probably never drive enough miles to have to replace the tires. if you were feeling frisky you might want to buy a matching front tire so they're both new, and you'd end up with a spare. Bald rear tires go forever, although the traction they offer in the rain/snow is probably less than desirable.
