Has anyone ever dealt with these guys?

Are these guys legitimate, not one of those market makers pumping prices beyond realistic prices. They do this kinds of stuff lookin' to screw innocent consumers.

Some people (auctioneers) do this that makes the trip completely wasted. I think eBay have developed artificial auctioning scheme (illegal and unethical) that everyone nowadays follow.

Well, they ARE selling Michigan buses. Never pay more than scrap for one of those.

Start looking on Govdeals and PublicSurplus. You'll find better deals, especially as the school year comes to a close. And as for where to find a bus? Any state that doesn't salt the hell out of their roads or isn't a coastal state. Southwest, Rockies, and some of the southern states are good hunting grounds

EastCoastCB,

What is your opinion, a fair value for presumably rust stricken bus as a scrap metal? I'm assuming bus will need a several major services, and supposedly, whoever buy it decide it's not worth of repairing bus.

I know nothing of school bus, but I run some quick calculation based on repair bills I've been gathering over internet. One can end up paying a lot more than buying a new bus. I have a report published by one school board, indicating price of new bus ranging from 90K-110K depends on options. I saw an ad from one midwest company selling new one for low 70s, much less than comparable Sprinter. I ran a quick price on Sprinter cargo van from MB site, came very close to 70K.

In sprinter conversion rout, there is one huge advantage we can only dream about, that is, one dealer is knocking off some 50K from severely hyped artificial price. I can't imagine some people will actually pay extra 100K for 15 sq feet of living space dressed in fancy furniture; it still stinks like Greyhound bus because they use dirt cheap toilet system.

I can't imagine those people paying hundreds of thousand, as much as half million or more for fiberglass skinned RV, find out school bus built on much safer and reliable platform can be had for less than down payment alone. I hear RV owners will get completely wipe out by the time they spent whatever's left on their savings on legal expenses, suing RV company. RV industries are too smart, too rich to be battle in a court.

If there's very much rust, the bus isn't really worth expending a ton of money and effort for. Its worth its weight in scrap because even if the mechanicals are good it takes labor to retrieve them and resell or reuse them.

I wouldn't call anything I say "expertise" but no problemo, I'm glad to share experiences and opinions with folks.
