I checked the VIN to try to find out what engine was in it. No luck on that, but found that govliquidation.com sold it as an "ambulance conversion" for the Navy out of Portsmouth (Chesapeake) VA four years ago for $4342.42. The mileage is the same, so it was trucked to Arkansas. Either that, or the odometer is broken. They listed it (in inches) as a 35-footer.

If it did visit California, maybe the firm price is an attempt ro recover the cumulative costs of dragging it back and forth across the country.

It does look nice.

like Uhaul has a central operations, but units all over

m1031 thought it was an ICU bus, as he's seen one in military museum

I don't know why but it seems like the military medical transports like this one with the special rear barn doors and stretcher racks are going for insane prices regardless of age or condition....wonder why.

GSA/USAF buses go for insane prices. Because they're low mileage, in pristine condition, zero rust, and not beat up. A couple I saw on Fleabay while looking for mine were going for 12k+

A buddy of mine owns a 64 GMC military funeral coach.

He only paid 2500 for it. Insanely low miles, pristine condition...
Still needs a lot of work but its a sweet bus.

Definitely Air Force, 90+ percent of the non-tactical Air Force fleet is painted in some shade of "Blue". The tactical fleet? Green, tan, or desert pink (including portions of the non-tactical fleet)

The kicker (sellers idea)
$1000 down, $300 a month, zero interest for term.
(We drew up a contract, agreed to it, and he filled out lien holder's info on back of title)

He knew my situation, we emailed back & forth for a month last year...
Wanted $9k last year, dropped it to $6500 this year, and just recently dropped it to $5500. I jumped on it!

He had a buyer last year walk away because he couldn't get the second engine started...
Took me less than a minute!
Outside, set switch to ENABLE START
Walk back inside, set switch to LOW IGNITION
Pull start switch down, let it crank till it fires up.

Grandma had an Onan in her Minnie Winnie when I was 14, remote start!

11 more payments and she's all mine!
But, I plan to double up on some of them when the suburban is paid off in March.

Looked at a warehouse today that a buddy has... You could park 20 buses in it! For $300 a month with utilities paid already.
He said "why don't you just rent an apartment?"
I said "because it's throwing money away!"

At least with the warehouse, I can spread out and work inside.
