Talking Looking 4 bus 2 buy

Hi ya,
I'm currently shopping for a bus to buy.
Here is what I'm looking for.
And this is my "wish list"...not cast in stone.

Want bus that is 5 to 8 windows (down passenger side) - A mid size.
I "PREFER" gas bus with manual trans.
I "prefer" one already done or part way done.
Must be good running with good tires and brakes.
Must have decent body (not rusted out)

Like I said before said.......... nothing is cast in stone.
I'd take a diesel/auto, longer bus if the bus is really a good deal.

I'm in Ohio so the closer the better. But for the right bus, I'd fly in and drive one home.

If you have a bus you think I may be interested in. Private message me with details and I'll reply .

I will post in this thread if I find a bus and get Admin to close thread (if possible).

THANKS!

I'm in the market for pretty much same thing as you. I'd suggest doing a search daily on SearchCraigslist.Org and eBay, that's what I've been doing adn it's amazing to me that everyday there's some new results. I actually have a couple search terms on eBay setup so I get automatically notified as well. I'm still on the fence about whether I feel like driving hours to maybe or maybe not buy a bus, I've found some cool stuff but have been hesidtant to drive 9 hours just to look at a bus I may or may not wind up buying

one thing ZI can say is that kentucky busses seem to be much better from a rust perspective than ohio busses..

the runor is that the ohio inspectors have begun to crack down on rust.. they have always been sticklers about mechanicals.. but now are denying inspections because of rust. so if you see ohio busses posted (I seem a lot on 422sales), be sure to check them throughly for rust issues before bidding.

Yeah, thanks, but this ain't my first rodeo hunting or buying a bus. I too have a system......

My post here is only one of the avenues I am pursuing in search of "the right bus".

As far as driving hours ........ I do my looking using pics and good info from the seller first.

What I mean are the facts of how many good pics are taken & sent, the depth of the info given and willingness of the seller to supply these things as a guide of what to eliminate in my searches without leaving home.

These things tell you a lot about the seller as well as the bus.

Nothing worse than driving to see a bus only to find you've been lied to or neglected to be informed about issues that are readily apparent as soon as you arrive to see it.

A good seller will be happy to supply all the pics and info you want. If they act like they don't want to expend any effort to sell a bus or plead ignorant to knowing anything about it...........WELL....It's a big red flag if they don't or can't and I mark those off my list without another thought given to them.

You don't want one that is not running perfectly, has brake issues, has worn out or dry rotted tires, full and being used as storage, filthy inside, dirty oil, low and/or stale looking anti-freeze, lots of water in air tanks. These are usually signs it has been sitting for a long time and not maintained. Those things are everywhere and are money pits.

A bus worth buying will be tagged and insured and ready to test drive. If not.......

Church buses, tailgate party buses, campers in use, school inventory that's being replaced are the best bets to get a problem free bus.

That said......... I can buy a non-converted bus all day long. They are plentiful with a big assortment within an hours drive (usually school fleet inventory).

But I'm looking for one that is already at least started in it's conversion. Also one that's not the usual every day bus. I'd love to find a long time family owned bus camper or older hippie bus that's been taken care of and loved.

I've have sold several & bought several over the years.

Patience is the key.

Well that would be dumb and very quickly fatal!

But patience is a virtue. I never was one of those that imagines they need or will get instant gratification. Everything comes in it's own time.

If I was in Arizona or Oregon there seems to be more of the type bus I seek........ The right one shall pop up... maybe not here in this forum, but here is not the only place I'm looking.

but .......YEP.......... still looking.

PS... I have had a few buses offered here...just not the "one".........YET.

My experience on forums (extensive), posts that keep getting bumped become an annoyance and often just ignored. Plus it's annoying to go to the thread to see what new info might be there only to find you wasted your time going to see "Bump". Just sayin....

Thanks for the advice.
But if I'm wanting to sell a bus...I only look at an ad like mine once. It applies or does not.
Second suggestion I do is unsubscribe to posts I do not want email updates on. It's easy... Under Thread Tools at top of post.
BINGO..no more alerts on that post.

A post that gets buried can be either lost..... or bumped back up....or a new post saying the exact same thing can be posted repeatably.

See the point? IMHO it's better to bump it up off and on than to have it buried and not seen...or to re-post the same info over and over.

Take this the right way...cause I mean it in a "friendly" constructive sense..........

but what's really not needed and an annoyance to the poster and readers are replies that are not offering a bus for sale or a place that bus may be found..... These posts..(LIKE THIS ONE) only serve to clutter a valid post and accomplish nothing else......except maybe hard feelings to the thin skinned ( I'm not one).

Hope this helps.

Again thank you for your advice. But I have already thought it through.
