multiple TC2000

When ever I get into an auction scenerio, I always seem to come in second because someone wants the bus just a little bit more than I do. I always wondered if having more than one of the same bus up for auction might help keep the prices down. Well here is your chance to find out if you are interested in a Bluebird TC2000, as Pell City AL has 9 or 10 of these buses up for auction on govdeals.

Alabama is farther than I want to drive to get a bus, but though I would mention it to people here if anyone is closer and looking for a TC2000.

Another week to go there. I'm looking at a couple of them. Unfortunately most are 5.9/545 bases and i don't want that combo.

I may be wrong but I thought all the tc2000 were 5.9. If that's true it's sort of a limitation of that model. I think these were all full sized tc2000 as well which seems like alot of bus for a 5.9

Personally a midsize tc2000 or tc1000 would be interesting, and hopefully the smaller engine wouldn't hurt as much in a smaller bus.

They came with different trans that should ease some of the limitations.

The TC2000 came with either the 5.9 or briefly a Chevy 427 gas motor in front engine configuration. The Rear engine had an option for the 8.3.

If you want an 8.3 in a front engine flat nose bluebird you need to look for the All American.

What's the difference between an AT545 and an MT545?

I think that MT545 was probably a typo. AFIK: there is no such animal.

Indeed, there is no MT545. A series transmissions have model numbers that start with 5 (or 15), M series start with 6, and HT series start with 7. Generally speaking they are stronger in that order.

Did a search and lots of stuff comes up. Several for sale on Ebay, can't be that many typos.

Every single one of those listings is a typo. People are just listing them wrong. They show the id tag as being an AT545 despite saying it's an MT. There is no such thing as an MT545.

I have to admit I have seen the MT545 listed several places as well. But for reference, this appears to be the Allison operator manual for all the AT/MT/HT series transmissions and there isn't a MT 545 listed.
http://manuals.chudov.com/M939-Serie...ansmission.pdf

The bummer part for me is that as an amateur, I can't tell the difference between an AT545 and a MT643 by just looking at the shifter in the cab, as they appear to be the same. There is a good thread in this forum on "How to tell AT545 from MT643, w/pix & specs" and there are some other photos in the manual I posted above. Not sure for those of us that don't see big diesel transmissions very often if I'll be able to spot the visual difference while hanging my head under the bus.

I've also noticed many 545s being listed as a MT545. Included below are links from a search for the MT545. The parts places even list parts for a MT545.

I'm not a transmission guy so don't know either way.

Well yeah, that was kind of the point. It's just a display of transmissions advertised as the MT545. Take from it what you will.

I have an idea.

Call Allison.

The funny thing is, even though that model does not exist, other people will search for mt545 and see skoolie.net in their results and think "well those guys wouldn't be talking about it if it wasn't real", which is probably giving it more credibility than those ebay links did.

So we become our own ministers of misinformation.

It was a legitimate question, why is this being turned around onto me personally? We all like to jump in and help, sometimes with not enough knowledge on the subject.

All I can say is that this isn't the first time you've asked a question and I've personally given you a detailed answer and you kind of aggressively don't accept it. Take fro that what you will, but it doesn't encourage me to keep responding.
