Bulletproofed 6.0 will outrun a 7.3, or a peppery xared for one. Just was talking to the hotshot couple weds.. they run their navistar box trucks all over.. 410k on one and 350 I think he said on the other .. VT365 unopened .. injectors replaces on both, EGR and oil coolers updates on both early on.. runnin like champs

Bulletproofing costs as much as a bus.

I have no problem paying someone to bulletproof it.
my problem is who to trust. . .
haven't had luck with mechanics and shops.

After talking to SEVERAL diesel techs, man if I were you I'd stay WELL CLEAR of that bastard 6.0 engine. Playing with fire on those. Anything built by international after 2003 isn't worth buying, IMO.
Chevy builds their 6.0 gas engines already "bulletproofed". Pony up for one of those and you'll end up spending less than you would trying to fix Ford and International's mistakes.

the ford 6.0 costs more to bulletrproof than the VT-365.. the VT-365 is low enough spec it doesnt require head studs to last a long time...

I do agree the chevy 6.0 is a great engine.. parts are everywhere at your local auto-zone, and every shop knows how to work on them.. from a cost standpoint, the main advantage to diesel vs gas is in fuel...and in a big bus.. if your bus is a weekend warrior for camping trips nearby once in a while, a common gas motor will serve you quite fine... fuel cost savings start to become a factor when you are looking at big busses.. ie getting 3 MPG in a gasser full size vs 10-11 in a diesel full size.. and travelling the country, the diesel makes the most sense..

the differences arent near as pronounced in van cutaway style busses.. and esp with modern 6.0's being fuel injected and all.. EC has it right find a 6.0 gas.
