Need opinion
Hello everyone,
Can you please give me opinion on this bus: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-rv-motorhome...8464?undefined
- 1997 Ford B800 - 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine
- 412,470kms (256,296miles)
asking $22,000 CAD.
I and my husband are 50+ and our goal is to get the short bus so we can drive across Canada and then US. My concern is the millage on the bus. I'm not concern about the cosmetic inside the bus, as long as the bare necessity works then we're happy. Also, we are not mechanically apt. We can tinker and fix regular plumbing and electrical breakdown - but not with car engine.
Any input is greatly appreciate.
Regards,
Me

If that bus was regularly maintained, then those miles should not bother you. Those engines can go 500000 miles. The manual trans is a plus and the conversion looks nice. The Ford chassis is not the most comfortable and far as suspension goes, but pretty durable. I have close to that much in my conversion not including all my labor time.
I would go look at it and check for rust issues and take it for a ride and see if you like it.

Looks like a decent build. No shower? Mine no longer has any rust, so mentioning it has rust concerns me. Up to you on the price.

I doubt that there is a line of people looking to buy this bus....or any converted bus. So, I'd make a substantially lower offer. The worse they can say is "NO".
Of course, if you are in the USA, then the conversion from U.S to Canadian currency will help out too.

THat's a fairly high amount of miles for the asking price. and insane amount, really.
Sounds like a run of the mill bus for TOP dollar. Low headroom, kinda crappy looking paint, and they're lying about the hours or the miles or both. Doing the math- 256k miles in 1466 hours is 174 miles per hour.

I was thinking the same thing, either the hours meter is broken, changed, or closer to 10K.
