If they follow through and actually do something for the kids I will happily eat my word. Unfortunately most of the fundraisers similar to this that I have watched have been self serving.
Given that they have collected $21k from folks so far I hope that I am mistaken.

What a crock of shite scam this is. Build a bus from donations as a charity sponsor to rent out for the charity. Then after collecting $20k, build it and then try and sell it for $70k. I can almost guarantee they did not prep the build correctly and will be lucky to recoup their initial investment.

That bus does not have $20k in the build. I'd guess it's well under $10k.
Then again if you're supporting yourself off of the $20k donations there might be $5k or $6k in materials in the build.
I'd like to remind everyone that my bus can be had for a mere $50k. True that $42k of that is just for sentimental purposes.

My short bus is currently available for $25k. This is HALF the price of Robin's bus. CLearly this is a much better deal.

I wish there was a way to tell the people who donated to build this bus that instead of renting it out to raise money for to build schools, which is probably why it got 20k in thw first place, it's just being sold off. Very misleading and a horrible thing to do

I can beat that
I will install cabinets and electrical just like the $70k in my 40' Bluebird custom for you for only $25k
Oh... Wait... I can't do it just the same because I have already stripped the interior and am prepping for insulation and roof raise. Boy did I screw up!

Well, the $70k bus wasn't insulated. Just tack up some flimsy paneling and splash a little paint around. Maybe get some of that self adhesive shelf liner to put on the walls to give it that really nice imitation wood look. Be bold, put up some glow in the dark stickers and stuff. Dollar store has some good ones.
Wait, we're not doing this right. Apparently you're supposed to get donations to live and work on the bus, then sell it to pocket the money.
There's going to be some people going to jail over some of these charities at some point.
Have you heard they're actually making legislation to punish news organization for presenting false information to the public?

Sounds like "fake news" to me. Next thing you know, someone will want to hold Senators & Congressmen accountable to their pre-election promises.

Probably is a scam but I’ve seen folks do a 50,000. kitchen renovation in a 30,000. house and be confused in the end because they can’t sell it for 200,000. Some people don’t get it

If I had that kind of money I'd be tempted to buy a used RoadTrek Sprinter conversion van.
For $70k you could buy almost any owner converted bus there is, and quite a few professional conversions too. Maybe, by marketing to the tiny home movement one could make that kind of money on a skoolie conversion, though you wouldn't want the buyer to know where you live. You could probably build ten comparable skoolies to that one for his asking price.

This story just gets more sad. If it was just one idiot who built a bus and decided it was suddenly made of gold, that's one thing.. But crowdfunding it under the story of helping kids and then immediately backing out is bullshit.

so i have to wonder what happened? was it on purpose that she is trying to sell the bus for 70 grand? or does she have to pay back all the funders because she cant deliver. the "perks" promised? her campaign is still up thats the interesting thing about it...

No indication that he crowdfunding wasn't 100% successful. That story ended last May.. Only one of her "perks" was at all bus related, and it's just getting your name written on the bus.. The rest of them are just random crap like spending a day together at disneyland on you or making a personal playlist on spotify.
