Thanks for pointing that out! The bus has 2" XPS foam insulation under the floor, on the walls, and under the ceiling.

I’d honestly like to say that I do really like your conversion. My question is why do you feel that your time invested is worth $14-23k? Your budget was $10k and you might have not even used it all. To ask $33,400 for a short bus is nutz in my opinion. Are you trying to make a $23,000 profit?

It seems still on the steep side, but you're playing a tough room here. Most members aren't afraid to pour sweat, blood, and tears, and tear our knuckles, foreheads, and clothing, all in the process of making our vision come into focus.

Personally I thought the sales pitch was brilliant. I would guess someone is either in marketing or real estate with a listing like that. HazMatt1960 is right though that this isn't the right group to expect to make a profit selling a conversion but that's not to say you shouldn't try to get as much as you can for your build and the pitch seems on-target for that purpose.

Thanks for the question and compliment! We'd love to share the price breakdown: We invested around $19,300 getting the bus travel ready: $10,000 went to living space equipment and modifications (solar panels, batteries, framing, refridgerator, finishes, weatherproofing, insulation, sink, emergency toilet, passenger seat, custom furniture, electrical hardware and finishes, and safety features like locks and doorknobs), $6,500 was spent on a brand new engine, $1,600 for new brakes, and $1,200 for 6 new tires. That totals $19,300. We priced it higher because we feel it's worth that much. And we are willing to accept offers starting at $24k.

I do recommend that everyone build their own home at some point. I know where every screw is on that bus and that does feel pretty amazing. But not everyone can afford to spend 6 months building their dream tiny home on wheels like I was able to. It was a frustrating blast getting to know all the ins and outs of the engine, electrical, the science behind the heat transfer/thermodynamics of the living space. The build itself also isn't for everyone. I loved it and I take it you did also. We know there are a TON of folks from all walks of life here on skoolie (because the community truly is amazing) and we are looking more towards those looking for a ready-to-go conversion van. Apologies to any of you who's thrill it is to convert your own!
