New rule!

Next post that someone that calls the 5.9 Cummins as the HOLY GRAIL or HIGHLY DESIRABLE will write a 1000 word essay as to why it is such. Pay attention. This might become a sticky.

As an owner of both an ISB and a 6BT (both highly desirable, holy grail level engines of course) I approve of this message.

I meant this to be for the For Sale Section only. You can call your engine anything you like even the cat' meow. ...but not in the For Sale Section..

Could you add "million mile motor" to the list of banned phrases referring to the 5.9?

If I had a nickel every time I read that in a VW or Mercedes ad, I would be filthy rich. OK, more filthy than rich but it sounds good.

Then they add that the radio, window, sunroof, left rear door, A/C doesn't work but should be an easy fix for $39.

my triple 4E is the Holy-Grail of Diesel V8s!

but always remember that the AT545 is Most desirable school-bus transmission..

and that my 40 year old bus was only driven to church and back by an old man so the 27,995 miles is accurate

There should be a mandatory form to fill out for selling your bus. It should be a link from the UserCP, right after you join the community, you can fill out the sale ad with certain criteria that is mandatory.

My bus was driven by a little old lady to church and back every Sunday and 1/4 mile at a time at the track the rest of the week. Being a million mile motor and all its just now broke in at 365k miles and is ready for it's first oil change. Sometimes you have to do a little burnout just to clean the tires off.

You guys! I meant for this to be a serious thread. Really I did. Now you're making fun.

Thread crapping is a serious topic. Things can go downhill very rapidly and do very often. It does scare some people way when things get out of hand. What I dislike is colorful descriptions to hype what is being sold.

Accuracy and truth over gross generalizations: The standard.

Has anyone ever purchased a new Detroit 60 series/Allison B500 and transplanted said equipment into a school bus?

This engine/trany combination was supposed to have been highly vaunted in the motor coach industry.

How much truth is there in this? I have heard that a well cared for 60 series will last 3 million miles. Truth?

I put half a bottle of Seafoam in my at545 and gained 15mph and 5mpg. I drank the rest.

Does that tastes better than tequila?

On a more serious note. Are you sure seafoam product in a can at Walmart for transmissions. I've used seafoam in the gas tank but I've never seen this before. Any feedback? Is it for any particular type of transmission?

a 60 series Detroit is about 1500 pounds heavier than our standard bus motors, not to mention just a bit bigger

Seafoam has ceased being a product and has risen to being a meme.

And it probably tastes better than the two dollar tequila at the gas station.

You scared me there for a second. But you can't fool me because I've got Google Foo and it says I can get some at Walmart.

The 'regular' SeaFoam can be added to gas or oil.....they also make a SeaFoam product specifically for your transmission.

A fuel additive for cleaning deposits. I added a can a few months ago and it really made a difference.
