the ohio river drive is nice... but some of your toutes.. esp rt 7 around there and rt 60 in WV arent routes that would be the most fun in a Long bus.. some pretty tight hairpin corners.. best to stick with 68 across MD in a bus.. at least my thioughts anyway..

Now we're talking!!! As tight as the Tail of the Dragon in TN? I've taken a Dodge Dakota thru that at speed. The bus is next. Do the fuel tanks have baffles?

The Bloody 7! I drove through that area about 2 months ago for the more scenic route home from Marietta. A bus would be real work to drive in those roads.

Unless there's a bunch more parts that motor and trans are not real useful except as hard parts. No computer for the trans. Can't tell on the motor

Turf, wouldn't that same motor, in the 6/7 window shorty from the same auction, be sweet? Except for the West Texas dust, they both appear pretty straight and clean.

Ohio Rt. 7 runs right along the river, known for being dangerous.

I know of at least two instances where a bus company purchased a good running take out engine and were never ever able to get the engine to start and run properly. One I know went to three different IHC/IC Bus dealers to try and get their computer to talk to the bus computer to tell the engine to work. The final solution was to order a reman engine directly from IHC using the bus VIN.
On electronically controlled hard parts the OEM's can make running changes during model years that won't ever show up in any trade publications or owner alerts unless it shows up as a recall. There are times when a tech will hook their diagnostic computer up to the bus/truck and the computer will do an update without ever notifying anyone that the vehicle was ready to do an update.
Which is all the more reason why it is a good idea to stay with the older equipment that is not electronically controlled.

SUPER CLEAN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GILLIG SCHOOL BUS W/UNDER THE FLOOR COMPARTMENTS | eBay
Clean 1989 40ft Gillig Phantom School bus. Just like mine. But a better deal I wouldn't trust the mileage, but the mileage probably doesn't matter, since with the 6v92 engine you'll be fine for many more miles than whatever they have on it. Not sure about that tranny either - mine has an Allison HT740 - which I thought was the only option with the 6v92. But I could be wrong. Also not mentioned in the ad, but this is the electronic version of the 6v92, you can see the computer in the image. If it's like mine, it's the DDECII.
In any case, not too many of these left out there, and there were only 2,700 of them made to begin with. Most of them have been crushed. Buy it, and join the club, keeping some of these sweet buses alive!

...also, a few more details on the Gillig Phantom available on my website - Meet my bus! — Buslandia - And this is only the 4th one of these, including the one I bought, that I've seen for sale in the 18 months I've been watching.

Jacksonville, NC I know someone that has an extra toe and her wisdom teeth grew back. The extra toe grows back too. A guy that can bend a weight lifting bar by hand and does not have a blood type.
