Back in the day (late '70s - early '80s) I saw a Vette at a car show that had a Whitt & Pratney jet engine under the hood. The owner said it IDLED at 60+mph.

Back blast area clear! That just looks like a whole lot of fun, until somebody looses and arm.

I knew I'd come up with a good use for that military cargo parachute, eventually.
I get the distinct impression that the pickup of that item is in a highly secure area. I want to buy something from area 51.

Wasn’t it Chrysler that actually experimented with turbine engines for cars? In the 60s I’m thinking they built a few before the program was killed off.
I know recently Walmart and one of the truck makers did a micro turbine proof of concept semi truck

If I recall correctly, it was the Chrysler 300.
The turbine truck is not a new idea either. Back in the 70's Peterbuilt tested the concept. At that time, they could not match the power/economy that a conventional diesel produced.

What I liked about purplewave.com was that they posted 92 high-resolution pictures of the bus I bought. You really did get to see most of it.
Even that is not the same as a personal inspection, but it did make the auction buying a little less of a risk.

My dad has been a truck driver for my entire life, so he's gonna go with me to inspect anything I might buy. Having something closer to look at will make that easier.

I think thats your answer to more pictures is plan to go spend a day looking at busses.. if the dealer is reputable then they should let you start em up, check fluids, crawl in and under and around them etc.. there are several members here that have busses purchased from midwest and seem that they did fine. keep in mind they are a used vehicle dealer so you can negotiate on price, extra services you may want added, repairs, etc.. no different than buying a car.. dont be afraid to dicker..

... and right before you commit to buy, suggest that they might have a better set of used tires laying around. It's almost certain, unless the tires on the bus you are buying are new, that they will have

I don't like their prices one bit, but Midwest did their best trying to help me find an elusive part. It was a fail but they tried.

Their prices look better than BGA.. I just looked at BGA, they have some sweet little 28 ft flat nose Thomases but double what I'd consider paying for them! Not that I need a second bus.

don brown used to have pretty good prices for a dealer.. seems like when they went to their new site their prices went up.. they buy a lot of their busses direct from the schools ..
some schools are buying used busses now instead of new.. was reasding somehwere.. maybe on a facebook post in a classic busses group that a school company just won 67 busses in an auction.. the same busses we all (and may have) been bidding on.. I think they were in tennessee going to SC for active route service..
