I am a little envious of the more mechanicly inclined folks on the board. This could be a great buy for someone who can fix it themselves.

Me, I would be paying the shop down the road to fix it @ $125/hour. Kind of kills the bargain

Blue smoke? Maybe I’m wrong but usually it would be white smoke if you have a blown HG, almost like steam. Of course I assume they have checked that the coolant is being lost and is not caused by a leak.

Here's my bus in RE with the smaller engine. I wonder if it's in 'limp mode", certainly not geared for 30mph.

This doesn't look like a bad deal at all, unless it has a 545 behind the DT466. Charlie, tell me what's not to like on this landlocked Fla. bus?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/99-Internat...OldD:rk:2:pf:0

Might be a good starter for someone.
I did get a laugh when he said it was a landlocked county bus, therefore no rust. then goes on to explain all the steps of rust removal they did.

Are they a tow outfit? I'd get rid of the picture of it being towed.

Keep an eye on this one. At the higher prices I've seen buses going for lately, these look like some decent starts.

Hopefully they're not bound to the 45-50 top speed a lot of NC schools seem to have.

I saw this one at the local walmart about a month ago. It does NOT look like $50k!!
https://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/rvs...793903642.html

545 tranny, no insulation. The typical "tiny home" treatment of a quick paint job and an interior like all the YT vids show lol. Fifty grand???
BWaahhahahahahahaha!!!!

Its painful watching this tiny house thing blow up so much. Full CRINGE!

No insulation and a 545... for fifty grand!

Gonna shop for bus #6 this summer. lol

It looks like a decent build but 50k!? And doesn’t appear to be air conditioning either...

So I've seen this one posted on CL here in Houston multiple times over the last year and a half.... https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/d...766307459.html I e-mailed him after doing my research on it and politely told him that he would have to do better on the price. What I found in my research...... Bought at auction in 2015 for 3650.00......https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/au...w?auc=1450758( Since then less than a thousand miles put on it, meaning that this bus has been sitting for the better part of 3 years meaning that there would probably be multiple items that would have to be gone through.(ALL fluids, brakes, hoses, seals. You know, the usual from a heavy vehicle sitting.) I finally got a response back this morning...... Price is FIRM according to, as he signed the e-mail, "The owner of one pimp ass bus". Yea, I'm still laughing.

If that mileage is accurate that's a not bad price for an 8.3 with ac and unreasonably low miles. I would look for an hour meter.

Under "normal" circumstances, I would agree. But I've been here in Texas long enough to see how they drive these "cattle hauling taxi cabs". Kinda like this.....

Looking over Public Surplus and Govdeals this morning and it was pretty slim pickings. Then I ran across a bunch of Thomas FE's with 230 HP DT-466 and MD-3060 in Olympia WA.

https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/au...ew?auc=2265096

The same seller has some with 230 HP 6BTA and 3060.

I have never seen a 230 HP 6BTA before. Cool

Edit: OK.... Either the seller updated the listings or I am loosing my mind...... I followed my own link and the address show an 6BTA instead of a DT466. Checked the other listings and all of the DT's turned into ISB's.....

 Please disregard my confusion
