Are there any FE buses shorter than an 8-window? I swear there's some kind of strange Bluebird FE near where I live that is shorter than that. I need to go check it out.
I'm definitely keeping this one I had got the seats and floor up in the other bus a few weeks before my dad sold it I feel like the work I put into the bus he sold was way worth the 2500 he pocketed but he lets me live the very blessed life I live but I am definitely going to finish this bus and sleep in it and travel for a year before I think about selling it
I would have to look at my GovDeals account I know it was a little bus yard a county bus yard or whatever downtown Savannah's where I picked it up
I think you got it at the right time. 2016 we fired the maintenance company. The replacement company found millions of dollars in damage to our bus fleet that first student hid from everyone.
They dumped all the busses and bought new. You probably got two good quality busses for a bargain! By the time I was actively looking last year they weren't selling any more.
A GM G-3500/4500 chassis is a very good and durable chassis.
The 6.5L diesel V-8 is a major disaster in a G-series chassis. There are several G-series only parts and pieces in the exhaust/turbo that are no longer available anywhere. The parts and pieces are specific to the G-series and not at all similar to the C/K-series or P-series version of the 6.5L. The very low production numbers from the factory means there is zero interest in the aftermarket to fabricate the no longer available factory parts.
A G-series with a gas engine or a Duramax diesel--great choice!
A G-series with a 6.5L diesel engine--don't take it even if it is for free.

I know its an auction so terms like this aren't exactly rare but I don't like the combo of a very skimpy description + "Was running" + "Sold as is" + "Vehicle maintenance records will not be provided."
Its being sold by the school district, in a listing where they otherwise can't be bothered to give much detail, they took the time to explicitly say they won't provide maintenance records. I don't know if this is common or not, but it doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.
