Here is something you don't see much anymore...I think this would be ideal for a FWD swap with like a Audi 4.2 V8 or even a Subaru H3.6, the layout that puts the engine in front of the axle. Now you can have a total low-floor rear box.
Only $500 with the aluminum box.

2009 30 passenger Maxxforce 7 ce300
found a great bus wondering on thoughts i know the maxxforce 7 engine has nothing good about it but the bus I'm looking at is basically brand new 75000km and in great condition its also been gutted and floor is done and insulated. Will probably pull the floor to put in a radiant heat system as i plan to be in the cold loads but would love opinions. the bus is 15g CAD but I'm thinking the guy will take 14?

Hello Willy
Welcome to the forum
Think about your first sentence? "I know the Maxxforce has nothing good about it" if this bus has only 75,000 km on it and is now heading for its third owner I think that should tell you everything you need to know. Do you really think it's a good idea to sink your hard earned dollars and time into something that if is not already screwed is only a matter of time. Do you have the skills and tools to work on a newer bus with so many complicated systems? These newer commercial vehicles destroy large company maintenance budget's regularly, what will it do to you? Sorry for being harsh but put the brakes on that one. On your other post you mentioned doing an emissions delete, first that is illegal so you would get no help from anyone reputable and it would likely be a huge crap shoot if it could even be done. I can tell you right now that is not the bus for a first timer or someone without serious mechanical knowledge and big pockets.
Keep studying and researching what is going to work for you and good luck.
Regards
Oscar

75,000 km on the whole bus? what year is the engine?
the issues with the Maxxforce 7 are related alot to the year it weas built.. if the engine was replaced in the last few years then it will have the updated Pistons and coolers, if the engine is original regardless of the number of hours / miles. its one to stay away from.. the piston cracking issues on the 07-10s happenb on some as early as 50,000 miles.. others made it much longer.. the 11-up Maxxforce 7s faired much better when it came ot internals..

Neither of those drivetrains would last in that truck body, which probably weighs close to 10,000 pounds, you would have a chance if you used a deuce and a half or 5 ton military truck front axle

thanks for the nice reply! probably getting a little excited to have found what I had an Idea of. I will pass and keep searching I'm certain its the 2009 model so probably will be a crap shoot. I'm finding it tough in Canada to find shorty/mid sized buses in good condition. The search continues...

The truck body is 10,000 lbs? The truck 'body' is just a cab, the aluminum box is not going to be heavy. You build a custom chassis.
You could do a bigger cadillac fwd like the old gm motorhomes, seen car haulers built this way.
Or just throw in a 7.3 if diesel is your thing.

that box is heavier than you think, i used to drive trucks, they are heavy because they have to carry heavy weights, the old GMC motorhome weighed about 7000 pounds empty and had a max gross weight of 12,000 in the 26 foot version, that truck probably is a 5 ton capacity (10,000 pounds) since it has a single axle which means it's frame is heavier to take the load

Not a full bus, but rather a DT466E (184k miles) + Allison 2000 series transmission, apparently pulled from a bus... $3600, located out near Spokane, WA.
In case anyone was interested for a transmission or engine swap/spares.

They mean because of its vintage (2004+) it will have emissions-control stuff that can be expensive to fix when it goes south. It's not legal to delete even if you're operating the vehicle in a state without emissions restrictions. The first round of emissions stuff was mostly EGR and then 2007 introduced the particulate filtering stuff; this vehicle might or might not have that depending on when the engine was manufactured.

Yup I’m aware of the emissions equipment being an 04. I wasn’t sure if there was additional emissions components on California buses that the poster was referring to. As it understand it, the C7 wasn’t a terrible engine in or around the 2004 vintage.
No experience with CAT stuff other than the 3126 in our 2002 freightliner flatbed at work and it’s been good to us so far. It also has sub-80k miles on it though

https://www.westauction.com/auction/2652/item/348203 - 1998 Freightliner MT45 Chassis Food Truck
Up for auction in a few days: a fully equipped food truck with a 5.9L Cummins. This appears to have a full water system (hot and cold) already installed, and, of course, fridge/freezer units. The tires look like they may have seen better days, though.
It might be a reasonable conversion candidate (or just use for a food truck!). Figured I'd share it.
