Oh. It doesn't look like a kettle, but then I saw the brewery thing, and being an accomplished homebrewer capable of producing eastern european elixirs that can erase childhood memories (the bad ones), I get it now.

I have nothing to do with the sale of these buses, I just keep reading about how hard it is to find something affordable. This size seems coveted and rare.
Ehli Auctions also regularly auctions Gilligs, they go for 2-5k. I know they have some kind of delivery/shipping services, but I don't know if it includes vehicles.
I hate to share this, because I regularly get great deals on stuff for our bus build. Of any of you fellow bussers start using Ehli, message me on here if you're bidding on something important, so I don't make you work for it.

I saw this rather unusual looking bus.



It's a 2009 Gillig 29' Low Floor Bus with a Trolley Package.
It looks like it has a hybrid electric engine, with 269K miles.




Curious what anyone thinks of it - I believe the hybrid batteries are on the roof, which I suspect would affect the center of gravity and make curves rather different.


Given the age, the batteries may be at the end of their lifespan, and it looks like they run at rather high voltage, so doing a replacement wouldn't be trivial.

craigs list ventura california they are selling two crowns, one a little shorter and the other bigger

both look pretty sweet.

If I bought the 1991 and brought it home, my wife would not be a happy person to live with...... but wow that is sure pretty...

Anyone know what the inside ceiling height is on that 35’ bus is?


I told my wife I’d buy her a bus and that 35’ crown looks beautiful. I think I’m interested.

There was a thread about Crown interior height a while back (Crown Interior Height)

The quick version: they're tall-ish. Comparable height to the other "tall" models from Thomas, Bluebird, etc.

The Detroit 2-stroke is a bit rare these days, so do some research and be prepared before diving in. Look up Crown_Guy on this forum. He is in So. Cal and is a trove of information about these things. Not that he's the only one who knows about them, but he's in the neighborhood and I'm sure he'd love to talk to you about them.

That sounds like a really good deal, so don't be surprised if it goes fast.

There's an elementary school about two blocks from me that has Three crowns parked out back. They're white and I'm not sure who to contact. I'll see if I can get a couple photos. I just noticed them a couple weeks ago, I've been living nearby for 18 years

I sent the Craigslist ad folks a few questions. Based on your linked thread (thanks) it looks like it will be tall enough for me. I really wanted to put off buying a bus but man that thing looks perfect. I’ll reach out to Crown-guy for some guidance, if he’ll provide it.

They are pretty cool, but I'm biased. "Tall enough" is more a state of mind than a physical dimension. My hair brushes the ceiling and I have to bend down to look out the window, but neither of those things bother me. Some people would hate that.

I should also clarify that $8k sounds like a good deal in this market, if everything is in working order.

Yea, I don’t think that bus is going to be for sale very long. The engine, the color, the way that it is equipped, will not be for sale long. I already have two busses. If I had none, I would have already been on a flight to Los Angeles, then airport shuttle to Ventura harbor.

RWnielsen... Looks like I missed out on that other bus. The guy finally got back to me and said someone was enroute to buy it. I had cash in hand and was just looking for a way to link up with the guy to get it.

What kind of place has those buses? Is that public or private?

the city of columbus had an EPA grant to get a bunch of these hybriod busses.. they didnt get trolley skin but the drivers , mechanics, and about everyone but the passengers were counting dowmn the days till the 10 year required operation period was over for those hybrids.. theres supposedly a new gen of them that is better but i would run as far as i could away from that 2009 hybrid

It's in the back lot of an elementary school a quarter mile from where I live in Long Beach, CA. I don't know anything about them but I could try to find out.
