I honestly don't know. I have driven Gillig buses with and without the high capacity air scoop. Both types overheated if it was hot enough outside and the hill was long or steep enough.
I think the major problem isn't so much getting air into the engine compartment but getting air to go through the radiator and coolers and then exiting the engine compartment.
You are trying to move air from a low pressure area and trying to make it go into a high pressure area. The laws of physics are some of the laws you just can't fudge.

Thanks Cowlitz. More and more I'm appreciating the relative simplicity of this TC1000.

obviously cooling of busses isnt thought of very much by engineers.. it must be assumed all school busses run in the winter up north or something..
after all; why would navistar have made the bastardized 1/2 rad and 1/2 Charge cooler setup.. then outfitted it with a thermal viscous fan clutch,...

Greetings, friends !
I'm a silent lurker on this thread and I love it - it's kinda like an ad hoc course in developing a good judgement of value; Hah'ha !
All right; I'll pitch in with my find: 1999 SCHOOLBUS TInYHOME | used cars & trucks | Calgary | Kijiji
I'm a big fan of wood stoves on skoolies, but haven't yet seen such a ginormous piece !!!

USS Enterprise; INTERNATIONAL LOADSTAR 1600 "SHORTY" CONVERTED BUS RV CAMPER - $4000

I've never seen this much stuff crammed into a little shorty, especially to support five family members.

Just what I was thinking. Works on race cars.

Either way those dealers are probably gonna drive the bidding up to stupid levels so I would advise people to keep their expectations in check.

The cracked windshield bus is a different cracked windshield bus. Crack is smaller. I don't remember the VINs.

Race cars are mostly front engines. The middle and rear engined cars are specifically designed to pass air through the radiator, and some have the radiator remotely mounted to maximize air flow. I am not an engineer, but just throwing a huge scoop on a bus may not give better performance. You would have to use speed to ram air at a higher pressure than is behind the radiator... I don't know what the break even point would be but I figure the high pressure area would increase along with the high pressure you are trying to force in. I have read a thread somewhere that discussed this in depth, but I haven't taken physics in over 20 years. I could be way off base, and if I am please let me know. This is just a slightly edumacted guess

You sure about that? I thought the cracked windshield bus had a MUCH longer crack than this one.

I don't think the 911 nor the MR2 door wedge have radiators up front. I've no idea where they are located or how.
Mount the radiator to the roof.

Price is still low, fairly recent engine rebuild. 466/643 with auto chains and 150k on it.
Ready for you to raise the roof and start conversion.

Now you're just being stoopid. Use the radiator as a wing.

Dog noses seem to go for half the flat noses; why?

I can't really say. Folks seem set on RE. FE and CE are the bargains usually.

some people are lookingto make a total length limit.. dognose is basically wasted interior space to some peiople..
me personally i like them.. esp when you have to work on it. , but you dont have quite the front visibility... and it adds to length without adding to interior space..
who knows what this will sell for.. its early on in the auction...
