Get y all some Texas buses! Haven't seen anyone using this site, but figured I'd share. Majority of their auctions have NO buyers premium or other fees, unless otherwise stated in listing, and seen some go for good prices on here

Looks like just about all the Texas schools post up here. Or at least a lot of them
The largest list from Texas seems to be the ones in Killeen, but they are all listed as "does not run", so the $700 opening bid is not so promising. Makes you wonder why so many buses are being listed now that were taken out of service 3 years ago.

if you look back, there have been some good buses sold for good prices. just putting the site out there for people to check, not necessarily saying theres awesome stuff there right now. maybe if the genesis wasnt starting at 3k

There are some promising deals there, I'm looking at a couple of them. The Genesis could still be a good deal depending on where it ends.

I sometimes wonder if some of the districts might put "does not run" on all of their listings to avoid going to the trouble of inspecting the bus and detailing its actual condition.

I have seen a number of auctions where several buses were listed by a district and the description, and occasionally, the pictures were all identical and all said "does not run".

If I was in charge of the guy listing them that I would fire him on the spot. It's a guaranteed way to only get about 25% of the value of the asset.

I have seen some listings where they write it up in detail and really promote the bus. I think these folks actually care about how much they get for the bus.

I have seen others that it was obvious that the person who wrote the listing obviously did not care. Even some that will refuse to answer questions.

I agree with you. Funding is tight enough in our schools that they should not be leaving money on the table by poorly listing their surplus assets at auction. Fire that sucker!!

I like the ones where they include a pdf of a pre-sale inspection.

Are Cat C7s a good engine? Any emission concerns here? It's in a 2005 bus.

Cat C7 engines are not bad engines. Their problem is they are made by Cat. Parts and service are difficult it you are not close to a Cat house.

2007 was the start of really bad emission standards. But the 2004-2006 are pre-smog and have some emissions equipment on them. Since the engines are all electronic you can't just take the smog stuff off and expect them to run or if you can get them to start to run well.

I had a couple of the TC2000 at the govdeals pell city auction bookmarked to watch prices. Just got a notice that they were relisted if anyone is still interested.

Is this common for people to back out of these auctions? And if so, any guesses as to why? I could understand if you show up and you see something major that they didn't list, I'd be wanting to back out. But otherwise you have a fairly short time to pony up the cash and its yours whether you have second thoughts or not.

Lots of potential reasons but you might try just along why they are re listed.

Some of them didn't reach reserves. Some had a minimum reserve of $3500. I was high bidder on one at $3300. I contacted them and they said they would get back to me to let me know if they would accept that offer, not what my winning bid would have been ($2800). They relisted it, so apparently they won't go below their reserve, which is higher than most auctions.
If you don't pay for your win, your account gets blocked from bidding in the future.

Maybe they listed with lower reserves.

My bid was $200 below their reserve, they opted to relist instead of selling to me. So my guess is no, they didn't over the reserve.

yeah i think sometimes they list with high reserve to garner interest... people really only watch auctions in the last couple hours.. so after the first day an auction is forgotten.. put a high reserve so tyou either get a poor soul to bid up the reserve and buy the bus.. or you gain interest in the fact it gets listed, ends, doesnt sell and gets relisted.. the posts get put out on social media, amongst friends, on forums like this etc.. in hopes they might get 2 people to get in a bidding war over a bus... in many cases the school really doesnt care what it sells for.. but in a few my guess is that the transportation director may get to use the proceeds in his own budget for tools, training ,etc so they have a vested interest in getting the highest price possible.. ive known people to do similar things on FleaBay for items.. esp items where the relist fee is very low or nothing..

I wouldn't be surprised if they were required to auction their buses and were unable to accept an offer that way.

It wasn't an "offer that way". I was the legitimate high bidder in the auction, but was short of the reserve.
