They should have realized before they did the $15k in "service" that they have at max a $5 bus. I wonder how many times they will lower the price and relist it. Be curious to know what they did for $15k.

No doubt.

Not a very wise decision to spend that much money on a bus that age and facing retirement.

Now they want to find a buyer stupid enough to make up for their bad decision....

If it was a private sale, I'd agree.
From a government auction, it makes (slightly) more sense (in that it makes no sense.)

It wouldn't be totally illogical to try and recoup the last service cost (ignoring the initial value) - BUT - they posted the pictures of the service job for the emissions controls. It was a $15,000 job-In 2012. And, hey, the parts guarantee on the service job just ran out, too. . . . .

Claiming an unspecified service in 2012 as a selling point is like me claiming to have invested thousands of dollars into my bus in the form of diesel fuel and now it too is worth 15k.

Craigslist buses

Seems overly expensive, https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/...882208274.html

I almost bought a 2002 7.3l 4 window short bus a few weeks ago for 3k, it had 171k miles on it and was in excellent shape, it was 2wd though. You can get them in California all day for 3500, https://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/d/...880515624.html

Here is an older 4x4 short bus conversion for 3,800, it looks a little rough with all the spray paint. It has a ford 351 windsor gas engine. It could be a great deal for someone, https://westslope.craigslist.org/pts...883408868.html

As the bidding starts the auctioneer says the winner gets his choice of which bus. So the bidding continues and reaches $2400. The auctioneer then says you have your choice of buses OR do you want all of them? Of course he took all of them and left every other buyer standing there dumbfounded wondering what just happened. Had they told us we could have all of them the bidding would have gone differently. I ended up bidding on 2 sets of number and letter stamps. I ended up bidding my max of $20 and they auctioneer didn't hear the caller and took the $20 as a winning bid to that guy. When the caller and I both said my bid was first the auctioneer just gave it to the other guy. He came over to me and asked if I wanted one for $10 because he didn't need 2, but had to buy the pair. So I got that and gas weedeater for $30.

Had I known they would change the procedure it would have gone differently, but he didn't say anything until the first bus sold.

Craigslist for sale

Looks like a good deal, although I looked up the vin and it says incomplete number. Low miles and decent price at 1450.00 also gives a phone#

I was looking at it's unpainted twin, and I was told that the back of the bus has no proper frame under it - the owner had bought it for his fleet and wanted to tow a trailer with it, but he wasn't happy with the way the hitch had to be installed - he didn't think it was safe - he wanted it GONE and wasn't asking much for it I told him I wanted to turn it into a camper/toy hauler - he advised me that it wasn't a good idea, saying he wouldn't put weight back their - there were other problems with that configuration - another site claimed that Ford told the builders to stop building that modification

Good to know, I was wondering why I have never seen one quite like that, or why I could not find any info. I just did a few quick searches though. I personally don't trust anything fiberglass as far as longevity goes. I have seen to many fiberglass bodies crack with minimal use. It would also not surprise me if there was inadequate support behind the axles to carry the weight of that extension and anything in it.

I keep seeing a 'real' school bus shorty 4 x 4 for sale - 454 gas - for sale for parts or conversion - $4500 CAD -that would be about $3300 US funds
- it's a good heavy duty metal bus though
