I would double check what engine it has because most of the Ford chassis buses of that vintage that were running diesel engines were running Brazilian Ford Diesels. IIRC, they came in 5.9L and 6.6L.



Also, if it has the Girling brakes I would pass on this bus. They are good brakes you just can't easily get parts and pieces to fix them anymore.

On the cutaways you get decent access by removing the interior doghouse. A lot of the engine actually sits INSIDE the van cab but I agree, access compared to a convetional full size is pretty bad.

The Duramaxes in the vans are detuned, there is no intercooler and they are turned way down. I think they make something like 65% the power of the trucks.

Your idea of "decen" may be different than mine I don't have a lot of patience with machines that make me cuss and bleed.

Do you know what transmission they used on the cutaways?

Random bit: I saw a 1000hp (so they said) 6.6 Duramax in a '67 or '68 Chevelle. I want one

I asked the seller that question hoping for a different answer. We're looking for something that'll go about 120K over ten years without needing a replacement, so 181K could work for us...but doesn't that note about the speedometer change make 181K feel a bit off, even with the official answer?

I thought '99 was the first year for the A3 body style but this is an older All American. Possibly a <1998.

I saw that listing, I'm pretty sure that it's a Cummins 5.9 24v. I wonder how it fairs in that large of a bus.


An MBE should have a very visible oil filter on the upper front left of the engine, just like this one in a 04 HDX.

Wasn't 2007 the first year for 6.7? Also that does look a tad large to be a 6.7. Maybe it's an ISC?

They just updated the listing, it's a 8.3. I'll have to save some of these pictures for future reference, that would be awesome to find 8.3 in something. Sadly this one is already out of my price range and I'm more wanting to pickup a parts bus with 3126 with AC in it.

I can't speak for what year the 6.7 came out and they feel big enough in the Freightliners at work.

The 6.7s are very nice for what they are. I expect them to become the preferred engine among skoolies in another decade when they become prevalent on the used market.

The 8.3 ISC is on a whole nother level though. My Bluebird will climb the big hills without even breaking a sweat at 55 mph whereas the buses at work will be screaming in 2nd and barely getting 30 mph on the same hill.
