Old Seats?

Any interest in seats from a 1992 Ward school bus? We removed them a few weeks ago, trying to figure out what to do with them.

Is the metal worth anything for scrap? I hate to see all of it go to the landfill if someone can get some use out of them or if we can recycle some of them.

Old Seats

I took my seat frames to the recycling yard. I wish I could have kept them for making frameworks under the bus, etc.....but my building schedule got very compressed, and mybabymamma wanted them GONE NOW!

I got 2.2 cents a pound for them. We hauled 16 seat frames off and got just under 10 dollars. I wonder if I have to report that on my taxes? Or do I just depreciate the bus cost by that much?

where y'at?

I got my bus with all the seats removed, and I'd like to have two to build a little dinette unit. But they're not worth shipping. Where are you located?

Branden, Seattle Washington.

Located in Des Moines, IA... Probably not worth the shipping cost to get them there unless you're planning a road trip!

Damn!! I should have taken mine to the scrap yard. I could have used a little extra cash... I ended up throwing one out a week till they where all gone. Learn as I go I guess.

Plotting the next project now. Looking for a clean diesel pusher with low rust/miles. Identical plans with plumming and biodiesel added :)

Did you have to remove all the padding and seat covering? I ended up taking mine to the dump which i had to pay $20, but I didnt have to seperate any parts of the seat. I did save 3 of them, 2 to make a dinette and one other one facing farward. Turned out pritty good I think

I had removed all of the padding and covering in order to salvage the seat material. I doubt that the scrap yard would have taken them otherwise. I had to take the padding to the dump (no cost, here). It took me two days to get the seats stripped.

In terms of time and effort, your $20 dump fee was probably a real bargain!

$20... yeah I'd say that's all right. Think I paid $10 to toss mine in the Whistler landfill which is where I was living at the time when I took my seats out. Didn't bother with trying to get money for them, after all.... it was only like 10 seats or so (shortie) but I am relieved that I didn't have to remove the fabric and foam and go through the song and dance of going to a scrap yard and then a dump.

I belive if you spend some time on the phone more (cheaper or easier) options will come up.

GL on your conversion, keep up the good work
