roof rack

in search of a cargo roof rack for my bus that is around 7' wide and 20' long
aluminum prefered steel ok

I would head down to a metal shop and have them wip out a quote to build one out of aluminum.

Be prepared for at least a $1500 cost.

buy some one inch square tubing and a mig welder and you'd still have money left over. quite a bit actually.

If they go with steel, yes.

Aluminum, no.

Aluminum is also alot harder to weld.

I hate tubing for reasons I just posted in my build thread. I build everything from sheered pieces of sheet, bent into ribs like the wall support ribs in our buses.

A bit more cost, but 30% lighter.

No need to go with aluminum except to save a few pounds and attract more attention from scrappers and thieves in the boonies.
The bus isn't going to notice the extra weight. Your bus certainly has gained quite a bit of weight up high, this roof rack is nothing compared to that.
No reason to go al unless the money is burning a hole in one's pocket.

Yes i did find one it is installed and put propane tanks and 9 bikes in it for the trip to Burning Man last year.
