SOLD: Bluebird 40' RE school bus
Price is $1500
This is a 2002 Bluebird All American,
it has a 5.9l Cummins ISB
I drove this from Wisconsin to Des Moines, IA with no issues, upon returning I determined that it needed a radiator, I HAVE the new radiator in a box that will go with it.
I am moving really soon and need it out of my yard, it will need batteries probably.
The other issue is the Title, I have it and its a clean title but the people that owned it before me never registered it so in order to register it I would have had to go through and get a bonded title. Maybe your state is more forgiving about that stuff but iowa is not.
I need it gone, and so it is $1500. And because it is $1500 I have no plans of working on it so that somebody can come and drive it away. If you show up with a bottle of stop leak and some batteries I'm almost positive it would start right up and drive away. Message me your questions and I will do my best to answer them. I am getting rid of it because I was going to live in it but decided to buy a house instead so I don't need it anymore. Also I didn't pay a lot for it so I'm going to give it to somebody instead of trying to sell it.
All the seats are already taken out and the floor is 90% stripped out.
At the very least even if you don't use it for a build the transmission and engine are good, this is the 24v cummins and its an L56 block, for those that don't know this is the strongest of the block castings available for this generation, at one point I was going to pull the motor and scrap the rest and put the engine in another truck.

While it is common to examine the teeth of a horse to determine its age and health. Most folks generally refrain from looking, when being offered a horse as a gift. I'm sure there was an old saying, which unfortunately escapes my memory.

Wasn't it "you can't teach an old horse a new trick?"

FYI you can tell a lot more about a bus' rust situation from an inside pic of the floor with the plywood out than you can from a pic of the undercarriage. OP's last pic shows that this is a bus with very minimal rust damage. It's also FREE which tips things even more in its favor.

I certainly agree with all of your comments…would it be worth the risk driving from NC to Iowa without prior knowledge about thr bus’s history?

What are you risking?
Personal note: This is the point in the negotiation where I'd perform the takeaway.
Samweld,
Scrap weight value is about $1800. Junk yards tow.

Very annoying thing I did
Good Morning,
I did something annoying that I can't seem to undo. I did post this bus for free initially and then change the price to $1500 dollars. I tried to change the title of the post not a half hour after posting and was able to change the body but not the title. Sorry for the mis communication.

Mistakes happen. I would kindly suggest, though, that you change the body of the post to remove the two other remaining references to it being free...which are going to cause some confusion, no doubt.

A 5.9 Cummins attached to an MD3060 tranny for $1,500 bucks...now that is a good deal!
Great deal if you want to replace a AT545 tranny !
At this price point who cares what condition the body is in!

Good point. Though I believe the Trojan Horse is more myth than fact.
