yeah, nice project..get a modern diesel powertrain from a skoolie, add some windows from an airstream trailer, or interior bits and you'd have a showpiece, conversation piece!

I think the tag below the black embossed tag is the coach builders tag.
I bet the body was done by either Airstream or Avion.
Both of which were about the same distance from Detroit.

There was evidently a company that made a few one-offs of exactly what you're describing. I think this was before Airstream introduced their own motorhomes, but those had a different look to the front end. They really should've made the front of their motorhomes look more like the front of their trailers.

Years ago, there was a guy in New Caney, Tx. that had a mobile home, resale lot, on Hwy 59. One day I saw a travel trailer I liked and pulled in. It was a 5th wheel Airstream. I had never seen a 5th wheel A/S, so I ask about it, thinking it was home made. He assured me that it was original, he had paperwork for it, and he had even called and spoke to A/S about it. They did have the serial # on their books, but no one had any memory of any 5th wheel.
I sure wish I had enough $$$ to have bought that thing.
