We're devastated!

We were set to buy our bus on Sunday. The seller said it was just sitting there and knew it was our dream. He was willing to let us put money down and make payments.

He changed his mind today. Everything is a mess. We sold everything. Anyone have a semi reno? Maybe 30-40ft? Anything would be great!

We're located in SC and are willing to travel anywhere in the US..

The charlotte bus has the wrong description. It's not an international, it's a chevy. I don't know if you would want the detroit 8.2 engine.

My last bus was an 89 GMC with the 8.2 Detroit (fuel sipper).
It was a very dependable bus & would fire up every time even in cold weather with no block heater plugged in.

Not my favorite engine either...but one I had was fine and got great mileage at a steady 10-12mpg. Not bad for a loaded 10 window bus.

Most private owners are not into providing loans and trying to collect payments but you can pick up buses for $2500. if you look around.

Both those last links seem like possibilities for a bus for me. Both "might" have what I'm looking for in my budget. I'd just be concerned about rust on them from being in the snowbelt.

I'd be glad to go check out any bus they have in stock you're interested in and relay pics/videos of the condition and transmission type (they list the engine, but not the tranny). The staff are friendly and don't try to hide faults.

As far as your budget, have you thought about a personal loan from a bank? That would open many more doors as a $5000 bus is typically much better than a $2500 bus (since nobody in their right mind short of "buy here, pay here" lots would take payments).

Here's an example of a $5500 bus available now... it has the dreaded Navistar VT365/Powerstroke 6.0 that would need some bulletproofing done to ensure you're not stranded somewhere, but I'm just including it because it's the only cheap bus they currently have in stock near me (they have two $3300 busses and one $5300 bus arriving this summer, all with the 5.9 Cummins): Used 2005 IC CE near Kankakee, IL - Midwest Transit

I agree, definitely if you look at any of those have them take good pics for you of the underside, the rear inside and outside corners (first place for a bus to rust.. although you'll be cutting those out anyway so corners may not be as much a concern as frame and floor ribs).. many of those may have been run on more rural routes which tend to use more sand than salt.. and may very well have decent highway capable drivetrains..although the ocerdrive transmissions really didnt get started in ernest on conventional busses until 03/04 when the AT545 was discontinued. (im thinking the indiana listed ones)..

cant hurt to call and ask about them.

Yeah I went and looked at the link I posted today, they all have some rust but they have some that have had rust repairs some that have air ride and all are pretty cheap 2-3k and they are willing to take less than asking
