My only plan this summer is to be in Tenn/NC mountains for the eclipse (August 21) and maybe a week before and who knows how long after?

All of you, and by that I mean anyone who has followed their dreams with a build, are my kind of people. I don't remember the 1st build I followed (maybe Roach's) but each one follows their dream, with whatever skills they have, and I love it. If you just have a sleeping bag and a bucket........so be it. I even have my wife reading up on composting toilets. (Whoda thunk it?).

Keep 'em coming, so I can get as many ideas, as possible.

Thanks or the ride.

every single build is different.. though it may seem some of the purposes are the samde, every single bus was bought for a different purpose

Most states require painting (haven't watched the video yet).

Since living in mine, I have found that 90 deg. is my cutoff, anything below that I am perfectly comfy running the fan as long as the dew point is low.
Stay out of the S.E. then.

I saw you made it to AL. Keep going!!

You two are off your rockers. 65° is perfect for a high temp. MD is too damn hot especially weeks like this. It's time for me to move again.

(I do run my bedroom zone most all the time, I love to sleep with A/C.. I like the sound of system doing its thing in the basement.. and csant stand sleep-sweat.. I guess i worked in Air-COnditioned Bubble offices where sweaters were required in July.. so long that now I enjoy the heat! since im not in a cubicle farm)

Watched the video.

He did a good job indeed. Damn fast. My only "problem" with these builds is you have to have your money and plan ready to go. No time for screwing around. That's not for me. I can't afford to build the bus all at once. But as everyone says, ... to each their own.

I do think he should have waited on the flooring. He had it protected but it would be interesting to know if he dropped any screwdrivers on it. He also looks fairly tall. Wonder how he'll feel in 6 months. Doesn't look like he can stand up fully in the bus. A roof raise of 6" would be good.

I can't stand muggy. Grew up in FL. I don't remember it being bad as a (little) kid but I just didn't know any better back then. I do remember a Boy Scout camping trip in Aug being miserable. That would have been middle school. It hit 104° that week in Tallahassee. Plenty of humidity and muggy there with NO ocean/gulf breeze. To hell with sleeping hot. Can't do that. at. all.

People here at work complain about conference rooms and computer lab being cold. I have NEVER been cold at work. One of the water chillers ran away. Temp said 54°. In a short sleeve shirt it was a little chilly but I wasn't cold yet. Guess I'm your opposite. Too many yrs in the hot muggy. I don't enjoy the cubical of the cubical farm but I do like the weather.

approaching my second year in a bus without raising the roof - I am 6'5", and it really DOES NOT bother me at all. I am bothered that I have to crawl across the bed to get to my garage - that is it!

I think the THOUGHT of roof raising, cutting metal, welding, and big structural jobs PREVENT many folks from getting a skoolie - it is too intimidating to folks that can barely swing a hammer. That is why I stress roof-raising as an OPTION, rather than a requirement. If I thought insulation was more important I might feel differently.

I'm 6'2" and I have no problem in my HDX. I've got a good foot above my coconut.

I've got to admit, kids are getting taller. It makes sense the buses would too. I didn't realize factory ceilings came that high.

With a bare steel floor, I still touch the ceiling and you're taller than me. I might could live with it on weekends but not full time. I want to tiny house tho not just RV for awhile.

IKR? I was told buses come in two flavors 74 and 78 inches. If I had known there was a 84~86 I would have been all over that!!

Next time you're down this way stop by and try out the 85" headroom in my bus! I raised my roof ten inches and apparently I'm still lower than factory school buses?
