Yeah, but he has no insulation. He's a going to get cold. Your son is going to need a big heater.
On the other hand the things they built are very well done. He had a fair amount of help.

That is a sacrifice. He is LIVING in his bus after 11 days, not spraying foam. I bet like me he will move with the weather, so insulation is less important than someone stuck in the cold.

Moving with the weather is always a good idea.

It is impressive to make the bus livable in such a short period of time. I kind of thought he would be doing the build by himself, kind of like a lot of the rest of us. There seemed to be some steps missing. This was all about the build in the box of the bus. Nothing mechanical to prevent breakdowns on the road. Nothing about tires. No paint.

Dread, I'm not trying to put your adopted son down for his build-light. Since he intended to live in it I was surprised he didn't do a more thorough job. Even in warm weather I'd want to have insulation. Still, he made it look good inside.

Tires will wear out, nothing you can do there.

Paint is a preference-thing, maybe like a lot of skoolies, he is not ashamed of the origin of his vehicle?

Since living in mine, I have found that 90 deg. is my cutoff, anything below that I am perfectly comfy running the fan as long as the dew point is low.

Like everything it is a tradeoff - my trade is being able to hang out here while everyone is transforming a bus into an igloo cooler

the way I look at it everyone's use / want / need is different for their bus.. so that means all the builds are gonna be different too.. the only time I would "fault" someone for their build is if they didnt build it to their needs / wants..

i see no need to tear the walls and ceiling out of a bus if you plan on chasing the nice weather.. I also happen to like fairly minimal conversionbs as they can be altered later if needbe.. if son decides down the road that he wants to live in North dakota in january then he can buy a BIG heater or he can insulate his bus...

just like myself, I disnt tear apart the interior on RedByrd because i use it as a daily driver / friends / party bus / road-trip cruiser.. primarily when im in the bus the engine is running.. there's 150k BTU+ of heaters and 45k of A/C..

as for mechanical stuff, the only thing i suggest is driving a bus as much as you can when you get it.. and learn of any pre-existing issues.. and repair those.. but yeah tires and engines wear out.. parts break without warning..

this kid can work anywhere it sounds like .. like i do.. a breakdown is an inconvenience..

I don't have insulation either (besides the insulation that buses already come with) and was living on my bus in 27 days... still not done (6+ months later), but sure getting there! Yesterday it was pretty warm here in south Florida, but I had my air on and did just fine.

I miss the warm... im up here in Ohio.. took the other Bus out today (the DEV.. you havent seen that one).. and I had to turn on one of the heaters . my little body doesnt like 51 degree mornings in nearly June! I think a Bus ride south is in my near future
