AAA-Plus

Anyone here have a AAA Plus membership for their skoolie? I plan to call today to see if they cover skoolies but figured I would ask the community also.

I just go off the phone with AAA. Their AAA Plus and AAA Premier both cover RVs and I specifically asked and they DO cover Skoolies!!! I just signed up for the Premier membership.

Here is a list of benefits for $115

Up to 200 miles on one tow; up to 100 miles on remaining 4 tows

Free fuel delivery

Extrication & Winching - Service of 2 Trucks, 2 drivers if needed

AAA Premier RV Members receive up to $500,000 in coverage with AAA Travel Accident Insurance.

Vehicle lock-out up to $100

Quite a few other perks as well. For just the towing it is worth every penny.

Re: AAA-Plus

Interesting. I'm going to go down to the office and grab a brochure and keep it in the bus. I want it in writing.

When I was on the phone with the lady, very nice by the way, I asked about insurance for the bus. She transferred me to another person and he said they didn't insure Skoolies but reiterated that they did cover them under their AAA plus and premier membership plans. Nothing in writing other than their website which states what is covered for what types of vehicles.

Re: AAA-Plus

I have the CAA (AAA) premier rv, havent had to use it on the bus yet, they have some good stuff and discounts, they said here in canada you can use it for a skoolie. I dont want to change a tire, or have to pay for a tow for a bus! I have gotten good maps a trip planners from them, and you get good camp books as well. I also have a goodsam but dont have the road side asst. they are pretty much the same as caa, but are like $100 cheaper, when we start heading south for winters im getting it as well. maybe a bit of over kill, but i really dont want any hassles if a brake down anywhere cheap insurance , you will need the cash to pay for repairs and not towing.

Re: AAA-Plus

Yes, covers the labor but not the tire if you need a new one......
I had good Sam for several years, only used them twice, Once for a tire change, the other was a jump start as all my batteries where down, turned out to be a bad alternator. $77.00
Never a charge from anyone for services.
If you get one read it before you try to use it. Most will tell you what it covers ..
Tows are paid to nearest authorized dealer
Gas 5 gal delivered. used to be free now you pay for the gas not the trip.
flat tire, will pay for change, but not the tire
jump starts no charge..
the list is long but basically they come to your aid

read before you buy..

Re: AAA-Plus

We got home and didn't need to use ours at all on the trip for mechanical troubles, thankfully. It sure was nice knowing if something major happened we could get a tow at no charge though. The money was well worth the piece of mind. I also used it at numerous places including campgrounds and received 10% off. I don't think I have used it enough yet to make it pay for itself but I have only been a member for about a month and a half. I would guess I received about $50 in discounts so far.

Anyway, I didn't read the fine print but I was told on the phone that I could get towed anywhere I wanted up to 200 miles once in a year and I believe towed anywhere up to 100 miles 3 times a year.

Re: AAA-Plus

I have the AAA Plus. Runs me $116 a year, which is well worth it for a tow or tire change if needed. My liability insurance is through Allstate, and I also carry a RV package with them too, so between the two, can be towed up to 300 miles.

Re: AAA-Plus

I spoke with a guy from Atlanta that had broken down in the Smokey Mountains and had his motor home towed to Gatinburg ......... Cost for the tow was... "drum row".... $1200.00
So $116 per yr for coverage is a great deal........ great ins.....

Re: AAA-Plus

I used the AAA towing to get my 21' shuttle bus home, before it was even converted. It worked out GREAT for me, except that they had a hard time finding a service provider in my area that could tow it. The only place they had was closed on the day I called, so I had to get AAA to note in their records that I would be calling the next day to have it towed from where it "broke down". It all worked out well in the end.
