Arkansas - Gutted Shell

Just bought a 1990 Chevy bus, 366 gas, Allison tranny.

Geico, my car/cycle carrier for 10+ years, will not insure it.

I have read much of the insurance threads here and do not see anyone dealing with the vagaries of Arkansas (now one of the States).

I do not have a full conversion planned, actually just a cargo hauler to fetch stuff from Florida storage units. As such, just need liability coverage.

Suggestions as to carrier here and for what to call it at the DMV?

It appears that Good Sam's, Liberty Mutual, National General are the most promising options?

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Jay

Welcome Jay,

I had the good fortune of having my primary insurance company willing to insure my buses.

I have heard from several people here, that were in your circumstance, that they have found success by going to a Progressive agent in person. Ask for "commercial vehicle for personal use" policy and do NOT mention conversion.

Good luck.
