My insurance agent goes to skoolie events, is totally up to snuff on what we're doing. I'm insured.

What part of STL are you located and did you ever get your skoolie?

I have seen many here get the DMV to classify the bus as something it is not. My bus agent says " We believe what our customers attest that it is" and they write a policy. 2 weeks later you are involved in an accident, your fault, and your insurance says tough luck, this isn't an RV we insured. And what sucks is they will tell you at that point that they wouldn't have paid any claim during the time you were "covered" and you can't get any of your money back.

A tree fell on my unconverted bus that was titled and registered as an RV.

I carried commercial for personal insurance through State Farm. They paid with no issues. In fact they paid almost as much as the purchase price.

I asked my insurance agent (30+ years in the business) about it.

She told me that they don't care what the title says. In fact they have no way to see it unless you bring it into the office..

A CFPU policy will cover it no matter what stage of conversion it's in so it doesn't matter what the title says. But if your insurance was for a conversion and it was not done, they would probably have denied you.

Exactly.

My insurance company requires pictures to show completion of the conversion before they will switch it to RV insurance.

If you lie to them and tell them that it is complete when it really isn't you are on shaky ground and could have problems.
