Cost for a Skoolie

I have been using my short bus frequently for the past year but the insurance costs have been staggering... i pay $2400 a year through progressive in NJ. Anyone have suggestions on how to lower that bill... it is a hefty bill to pay every month.

No - not commercial - in fact the policy specifically restricts commercial (for profit) use... had to insured it under "commercial for private use", 10,000 mile annual restriction - max 10 passenger use. I cant get rid of it... I actually use it for a handicap family member (the short bus has a handicap lift) - it makes it nice to be able to take the wheelchair and lots of family on outings to the area... camping, parks, boardwalk, museums, zoo, fireworks, etc... in one vehicle as a family - and its the only handicap vehicle i could get close to in price (cost me 4k at an auction in Ohio) - but the insurance is eating me alive... looking for ways to lower that people have found works

Every state is different. I've seen a number of people here suggest "shopping around" via different independent insurance agents.


My experience has been very different, but I'm in Indiana.

In which state do you live? Members in that state might have suggestions.

I just added our new bus to the insurance policy at AAA and it cost 225.00 a year for public liability no collision. It is insured as a motor home.
